How quick could you get a Honda to go on regular street tires?
I've been thinking about this for a while and I want your opinions on it. My question is how fast could you get a Honda to go on regular street tires.
read NOT DRAG RADIALS
I don't care about the brand, model, or size of street tire. I'm talking about higher stret horsepower levels, lets say 500whp max. Chassis doesn't matter either but lets use my car as an example it is 1700 +lbs with me in it. Assume this car just drives to the track and runs. Has anyone tried this or does everyone give up and go to DR's or Slicks.
I have seen the latest drag radial record and it seems like it could be faster. I think I saw 11.00 or close to that. Isn't it possible to set up AEM with traction control or modify the ignition to allow for vehicle speed vs. tire speed to help modulate the throttle. In a light enough car I think it would be possible to get in the 10's. I guess this assumes the car can be controled and kept on the road I guess. I've never driven a 10 second honda so I don't know. My gut tells me suspension tuning is often overlooked on fast street cars.
Is this a stupid idea or has anyone else pondered this challenge?
Oh yah I don't car at all about running in a sanctioned class. Just a fun car!

[QUOTE=crx12[My gut tells me suspension tuning is often overlooked on fast street cars.[/QUOTE] <--- A bit of an undersatement
Not alot of streetcars are setup properly for racing being they still want to run the streets without much sacrifice.
I think the limitations keep the Honda guys from further pushing the "street tire" envelope. Being that it really is the purest form of racing (street tires you use on the street) I think with the right setup (AEM and a killer suspension) you could go high 10's MAYBE
