Default recent pic from a meet, question about pic....

i have a little canon powershot a300, and ive been experimenting with the custom white balance... look at the evo, it comes out clear, but look at the black civic in the background -- why is the portion of the picture blurred out? i wasn't using a macro/micro mode...

^^ yep...possibly some mode on your camera was activated, or just because the evo was closer, and made it focus solely on the evo

you could try shooting at a higher apature value to try and bring the background a little more into focus.

were you using a tripod??
if not you could have very easily moved the camera slighty and caused that to happen

its aperature. not sure if the camera has settings for it may be automatic. Higher aperature greater dpeth of feild...meaning the entire background will be clear. Smaller aperature the less depth of field.....blurry background. SLR's can control this. Most "automatic" cameras cannot.

The canon A300 has an aperature range of 3.6-5.6 which you should be able to control. Just check out your manual and it should tell you how to change it.
