throttle body rotor?
I saw on a "throttle body rotor" on a web site today. Its says it goes over your oem unit and increases your throttle response by 50%. is this BS? it goes for about $25. I've never heard of a TB rotor. what do you guys think?
all efi car have a throttle body rotor in one form or another.
you can get a ported and bored Throttle body assemble for 100 shipped.
in short, dont go for the scam

guys guy sguys.. so skeptical about something you guys dont fully understand. the throttle body rotor they are selling is actually just of smaller diameter than your stock rotor. what this does is increase the amount of travel the rotor opens the TB butterfly / with less distance the gas pedal has to be pressed. get it? its actually very uself for heal/toe downshifts because it reduces the effort needed to bring up the revs. the road race guys will understand.
^the point is though all you have do it is mash the gas harder to get the same result. if you need for heel toe shifting that's fine. it's just spending money on a short shifter. it makes shifting fast easier, but it's something that you can learn to anyways. my problem with the throttle rotor is that it's marketed as enhancing performance or adding hp which it does not do.
now claims of adding horsepower is BullIsh.. but it does help throttle response because you DONT HAVE TO MASH THE THROTTLE AS HARD OR AS FAR. and as for having a shorter throw shifter, the more sensitive throttle will go hand-in-hand with that.
but it all comes down to personal preference. some people have driven my car and say they like it and some say they don't.

exactly...
it's actually larger diameter... but that's splitting hairs...
I was very sceptical at first until I tried it... and it works quite well...I was surprised to say the least...
and from what I've seen it's not advertised as adding hp or power in any way shape or form...
all it does is increase throttle response...which is a good thing...

I don't understand why you all want to spend money on this kind of stuff when you don't need it and it won't make your car faster.
Save your money for stuff that really matters. A motor, pistons, cams, valvetrain.. etc.

doesnt cost that much. and it makes heel/toeing alot funner
drink one of these
maybe you'll feel better

why dont you just shorten your throttle cable, and then adjust your idle screw so that itll still idle under 1k
......if u want quicker throttle response, port the TB and get a light *** flywheel......im not saying it doesnt work, im just saying that itll **** up your gas milege

I actually did both the throttle rotor and put a JG ported TB on around the same time...I put the Weapon R rotor on a day before putting on the TB...which gave me a chance to feel the difference with each...
and my opinion is that both helped out the feel immensely...I would rate them both as good mods...the rotor gave a better feel and more pedal response and the ported TB was a more subtle mod...
I have no regrets about getting the rotor... as opposed to doing something irreversible and ghetto as cutting the cable...
Personally I would buy it again...
For all you doubters... why not try it and see if you like it before crapping all over it without any firsthand knowledge whatsoever... it would lend more credence to your internet machanic image...

im not saying it dont work or anything, because simple physics prove it will reduce throttle response....its just that thats the kinda thing you really dont wanna **** w/ for a daily driver

why would it "**** up" your daily driver? theres nothing to really "**** up" unless you have no clue what your doing. it that case you shouldn't even pop your hood if your scared that something that simple will mess up your daily driver. Now shortening your throttle cable will cause problems. even a throttle cable that is too tight will cause erratic/high idle. and adjusting the idle screw higher will also cause a decrease in gas mileage. the throttle rotor will not cause you to waste more gas. it's your FOOT that will cause you to waste more gas.
common guy, think about it.
