Hard cornering + high revs + low on gas...How bad is that??
Scenario:
Freeway off-ramp @ hi-speed, downshift to 4th entering the turn, downshift to 3rd, (hi rpms) decelerate a li'l and gun it thru the turn. Hard into mid turn around 60-65 ish my motor was bogging/cutting out...
I then realized i was almost out of fuel (D'oh!) and am guessing the G's threw the gas away from the pickup and caused the hesitation/bog.
My Q is:
Since i let off once i felt it bog, is there any damage done here? Was on the throttle no more than 1½-2 secs. with the bog conditions, and babied it home. Anything i could/should look at or may have potentially fucked up?
Your input is sincerely appreciated

I doubt it.. If you were boosted or spraying around the turn then maybe.. One thing you can do to make sure this never happens again is to PUT SOME DAMN GAS IN THE THING..
this happened to me once too.. i was in the middle of nowhere and had to make it to a gas station before i ran out.. and i noticed around hard turns it would bog a bit.. filled it up with gas and havnt had a problem with it since...
no need to worry, but think about your oil as well. you might want to get a baffeled oil pan if you do a lot of hard cornering.
Great! Thanx to all for the reassuring words!
In the normal run of things, i make sure to have a full tank or at least a fair amount if i know i plan to get raucous...this was just one of those 'crime of opportunity' things where the ramp was wide open, the clouds opened up and the sun broke through, etc. LOL!
Yes, putting some damn gas in the thing seems to have solved the problem, but i've been easing my way back up to full on driving since the incident...all seems well at this point, however.
A baffled oil pan is certainly something to consider, but do i really run a great risk of oil starvation if i just bend the occasional off-ramp and assault a winding back road now & again? Keep in mind, these back roads have big trees that would certainly win in a collision with my tiny honda, and their fair share of blind corners, so i'm almost never (if ever) full on gonzo on the street. (Which wouldn't be the most intelligent thing to be doing anyway
)
Just didn't know if a baffled pan was more an 'if you track it' kinda thing, or just a good idea in general if you drive hard at all.
Again, much thanx...i'm able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that i'm not alone!

I wouldn't be concerned too much about the ouil pan for the type of driving that your describing...just make sure you always keep the oil level topped off.

Well unless your doing sustained cornering the factory pan should work fine.. I has some baffeling in it already..
