Default disable knock sensor for lsvtec (obd1) w chipped p28? (searched......for hours!)

I am starting to build an LS or B20 Vtec and was wondering what to do about the knock sensor. Should I have a p28 chipped to disable it and not worry about it? I am new to obd1-2 but I know that obd0 b18a's don't have the knock sensor. Do any of the b18b's, b20b's or b20z's have a knock sensor? This is about the only lsvtec question I have not been able to find out. If you have an Obd1 lsvtec let me know what you did for this situation. thanks in advance

A p28 does not have the knock sensor circuit in it. The only ecu's for your application (obd1) that are going to have knock sensor are p61. p30, and p72.

Chip existing ECU to ignore KS and don't hassle with it. Honda KS is worthless.

what he said what ecu do u have know 88-91 is obd0 92-95/96 some cases is obd1 97-01 obd2a 02-present obd2b as obd gets higher programming cost more there r a few company that do obd 2 but its expensive and obd2 is so much smarter than obd1 its selflearning

OBD0 and OBD1 are self learning, too.

I am going to run the P28. I did not know that the p28 did not have the KS circuit before I posted this.
Thanks for the help guys

I noticed this post when I went to your vouch, but personally if you are talking about running ctr pistons in this block im sending you, I think you should put a knock sensor in it, I dont know how ctr slugs respond to detonation, but ive heard bad things about b16 pistons ringlands breaking under detonation, its better to be safe then sorry, put a knock sensor in it especially if your c/r is gonna be higher then 11.5:1, ill get your block shipped out! thanks again.

The car won't be driven without being tuned! I will not waste a motor on detonation. EMS or DFI will be the tuning device and I will make sure that everything is correct. The compression will be around 11.9: 1 (according to c-speed) I will be running 93 octane tuned. I am confident that this will be OK.

The Honda ECU ignores the KS above 5000 rpms, and at WOT.

Spark knock at part throttle doesn't break ring lands.

KS pulling ignition timing for part throttle cruise pinging serves to lower combustion temps and thereby avoids nOX production. Honda KS = emissions sensor and not engine safety sensor.

Adding a KS for the above setup is a waste of time. Tuning the car in the first place =

PS - If Honda gave a **** about the engine's safety, the ignition would cut out if the oil pressure warning light came on.

This is true. My buddies GSR swap had an oil pump go after 2 weeks and bye bye motor 3k down the drain

No need to gorund it out. The p28 does not have a KS circuit.

P28 is not a pr3! P28 is an obd1 ECU form a 92-95 ex/si. They do NOT have a KS circuit.
