Cylinder 3 dead..
Ok, so I'm coming in from out of town the other night, and as I start gearing down to the local speed limit, I realize that my car sounds like a frigin lawnmower. I could immediately tell that one of my pistons was out, so I pulled over and checked the wires, made sure nothing came loose. Everything was in its place, and so there wasn't much else I could really do right there.
Took my car today and decided I would change the most basic ignition components (dist cap, rotor, wires, plugs). That didn't help, so I did a compression test and came to the conclusion that all cylinders are firing except cylinder 3 had no compression at all. I need some advice on what this could be. I'm thinking that a valve/the valves on cylinder 3 are just messed up.. maybe even the rings..?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,

If you had no compression in cyl 3 then switching injectors isnt going to do squat. You need to find out why theres no compression. Check for oil in coolant and vice versa, check your valve specs with feeler gauges, and also remove the little "breather" hose that goes from your valve cover to your intake tube and run the car, if theres an assload of smoke that comes from this hose after a minute or 2 from running then its probably rings, smoke is from blowby. If theres a little haze or light smoke then thats normal oil vapors.
Hey this is from AF, maybe this will help ya out man. http://www.automotiveforums.co...31027
Thanks for the help guys. The compression tester I was using today was pretty hurting, so I'm gonna go pickup a new one tomorrow. Gonna re-check the compression and if there is 0 compression in cylinder No.3 (I'm pretty sure there was) then I'll remove the head I guess and take a look and see whatsup. What compression numbers should my D16 be throwing?
Thanks again,

Ok, got a proper compression tester today, tested all my cylinders, and these are the readings I got.
Cylinder 1 - 190
Cylinder 2 - 183
Cylinder 3 - 0
Cylinder 4 - 184
Makes no sense. I removed the vaccuum line going from the vavle cover breather to the intake and there was no smoke at all.. so I'm assuming that it's something in my vavle-train
. Guess I'm just gonna have to take a look for myself

these people are making things too complicated for you. just put the cylinder at TDC on compression stroke and hook up shop air to the compression checker (take the gauge off) and see where there is air coming out. Where it comes out is what is broken.
ex. if air is going out the exhaust... an exhaust valve is bad.
