Default Questions of the allmighty B20VTEC???

Is it worth doing? I was thinking of a B18c5 bottom end to replace my gsr bottom end but i see many R owners going to this set up? I am not looking to rev past 8-8500rpm. How reliable is this set up and what kind of power could this set up give me if i have a gsr head and high compression?

I raced a guy a couple of weeks ago that had a b20 bottom end with a b16 head. He was running 9.5:1 compression (getting ready for turbo) and a Hondata, shifting at 9500. From 30 to 130 he had about 2 cars on me. And that thing was LOUD

*edit*
Oh yeah, the engine was in a 5th gen hatch

Dag...pull really hard? i wonder what one of those type of build ups would be like with like 11.1 compression. Do pistons from the ITR and CTR fit or do i need custom pistons? Would there be serious mods in making one of those motors handle 8500rpm?

no ctr and itr pistons wont fit cause the b20 pistons are 84mm and the ctr/itr are 81mm. You'll need stronger rods and arp rod bolts for the block and upgrade valvesprings for the head to safely rev to 8500rpm.

Good info. Thanx for the info on the 84mm bore. I was affraid of that. Its all good i cna still get high compression pistons for them. WHat kind of times to those lay down with a high compression build?

To rev that high, not only will you want forged rods and pistons, you may want to check out Z10 engineering and get a crank girdle.

Basically if you want high rev's on a B20 you have to rebuild the whole thing.
Just sleave and bore the GSR block, you have the base already, the GSR's crank is strong enough the R/S ratio is better than the B20's and it will cost less!!!!
