I just bought a '94 GSR (semi-stock) with a act 4 puck and i hate it, its really overkill for this car. I wanted to know about how much i could get for this clutch and what would be another good clutch that isnt so harsh. Thanks alot guys
Don't know how much a person could get for a used clutch.. How many miles are on it?
As for what else should you get, the Clutchmasters Stage 3 (kevlar) is good because it grips very well but has smooth engagement if you still want hardcore, otherwise I'd get some companies (any companies really) stage 1 or street setup. Heck, if you really don't want too overkill get a Type R clutch, little better holding power with total stock feel.

it doesnt really matter bout wat clutch u got. it depends mostly on wat pressure plate u have. u mite have some hard *** pressure plate. if u get a street clutch u can get like an extreme pressure plate and it will still be hard as hell. 4 pucks r cool... i wish i got that instead of my 6 puck

No they aren't lol. At least for a daily driver

In my experience, its been the disk that makes the most difference. I had a 6 puck with a heavy duty pressure plate (clutchmasters) that I really didn't like. shifts were pretty harsh at times, even when I wasn't trying to be.
kept the pressure plate, but put in an OEM disk and like it a LOT better. so much smoother. the extra stiffness in the pressure plate is easy to deal with, but the harsh engagment characteristics of a 4 or 6 puck clutch can be a PITA, especially in L.A. traffic.
Unless you are putting down some serious power, you really shouldn't need anything more than a full face disk (OEM or kevlar) and a heavier pressure plate.
and your motor mounts and tranny will thank you later.

i have a 4 puck too. at first i hated it, but i couldn't afford a new one so i just decided to deal with it until i could.
believe it or not, it actually engages pretty smooth now that its broken in(over 1000m). i only jerk out my ash tray now when i mash on it.
now i just need axles because its killing them.

How long have you been driving on it? I had the ACT 4 puck and it was fine after I got used to it (about a week and a half).
The reason it's "harsh" is because it's unsprung. Most pucked clutches out there are sprung. I say keep it.

i bought the car yesterday so i've only been drivin it a couple days. I know I can get used to it and drive it... but aren't I hurting my tranny in the long run?

No, you aren't really hurting anything much. Maybe the flywheel, but that's it.
Just don't drop the clutch TOO much.
Your tranny is pretty strong, it's your axles that might take a beating over time.
You'll be fine. Get used to the clutch, and take note that you have one of the hardest grabbing clutches out there.
