I am wondering if these bulbs that I have on my car are legal or not. I live in OR btw.

Geez it just gets worse and worse...

Holy crap that is how much I paid for a pair of brand new Philips 4100K D2S HID bulbs.

that 60/55w=135/120w talk is utter BS

different color temp from the same bulb? WTF, if anything the high beam would have a higher temp since it is brighter

And I dunno what the hell that Super Plasma s00per d00per p00per xtra technology jibberish is all about

no they are not legal, they are also ghey and a super ripoff. Sorry I'm just sick of seeing all the false advertising on all this stuff.

No actually it's not. They're not true high wattage bulbs. What they claim is that a 55w bulb is putting out 120w of light, which is pure BS because wattage is not a measure of light output, lumens is, and I guarantee that bulb puts out less lumens than a regular clear H4 bulb.

60/55w = 135/120w
(stock) (once bulb is installed)

It's saying: your stock is 60/55w; once these bulbs are installed, you will have headlight at 135/120w. Those bulbs do run at those wattages.
If they didn’t, then people wouldn't have melting headlight housing.
I never said anything about the luminosity.
You need to do some reading on, “how halogen bulbs work.”

You don’t seem to be bright from what I’ve seen you posted. I’ll chime you in.
Regular home use halogen bulbs vary from 10w and up. Let’s say I have a table lamp and it requires a 60w bulb, but its max is 120w. The light-output doesn’t do justice, so I put in a 100w bulb. Wow, now I can actually see! I’m sure the luminosity didn’t change much, but some how my eyes are satisfied. In my garage I use florescent shop lights, which have 35w bulbs and puts out luminosity two to three times more than my table lamp.

Just remember, you’re the one that told an h-t user that “Real” EK9 CTR lights are chrome housing.

If there the PIAA blasma blue then those are sweet, I have them in my projectors and they look awsome, and I think when they claim they produce 120w i think what there saying is that they are the same as bulbs that would be 120w. but they dont actually. not sure though

That's not how it works. If the bulbs really ran at 120W, it wouldn't have the "=" sign on it. Actual high wattage bulbs don't say 55W = 120W, they just say 120W or whatever they are. Those bulbs just claim to put out the luminosity of a 120W halogen bulb while running at only 55W.

Hahaha for one thing, household light bulbs aren't halogen, unless you specifically buy halogen replacement bulbs made to go into household light fixtures. Most home use light bulbs are plain ordinary incandescent (no special gases or anything like what's in halogen bulbs, which raises the pressure inside the globe to allow the filament to burn hotter).

And yes a higher wattage bulb does put out more lumens, lots more. A 60W household bulb puts out around 800-900 lumens, while a 100W puts out 1600-1700 lumens.

Well, you just proved my point that I was making. Wattage is NOT a measure of light output.

Nope, never said that.

haha my cousin had those POS piaa purple bulbs on his hatch a few years ago and they're terrible.. cant see the road for ****. if i were to stay halogen, which i never ever would... i would stick with silverstars, if not normal clear bulbs. something with a white output, not purple.. like a few of my friends have had 6000K HID on their cars and that looks stupid too.. unless you like a fruity violet tint in front of your car at night, and no bad weather vision whatsoever.

Purple? lol

I guess I can't really laugh, though, because I'm running 3 Silverstar bulbs (two in the fogs and one in a headlight) and one stocker. One of my damn Silverstars burned out so now all of my other lights look blue.

i have the apc super white bulbs and i know its rice crap but they are brighter than the mtec white bulbs i used to have. Recently i was in a fender bender and the right lamp is facing down. yesterday i noticed the socket in back of the bulb was burned to a crisp i do not know if the impact or the bulb caused it. I had the bulbs for about 5 months and problem until the accident. oh and btw they are bright or should i say they were i switched back to stock.
