Default 2000 Civic SI (Canadian) help with suspension

Hi guys, this is my 1st post, and I'm a new civic owner, so I'm not the most educated on modifications, so please be gentle on me .

I also searched, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for, so help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and remember, I'm a poor student. )

Ok, here's the deal, I just acquired a 2000 Civic SI (Canadian) so it's not the 160 hp SI, it's only the 127 hp SI, (something similar to the EX). And I bought a pair of 16 inch Special Edition Honda rims, from my buddy here in the U.S. that he had on his U.S. Civic SI. So I didn't know that there was a difference between the canadian and the U.S. SI. (Basically, bigger engine, stiffer suspension, and all disc brakes, maybe more ) The U.S. Civic SI, is the Canadian SIR (I think)

So anyways, after purchasing the rims, I put them on all stock suspension, and to my surprise, they would rub when we had 5 in the car, or just hit a big bump.

So a friend suggested to get coil-overs, so I bought Reactive coilovers (got a decent price), and put that on. My friend also said I could lower the car since they were a lot stiffer than stock springs. So I did. And this is what I came up with.

The problem is that it's still rubbing when I carry 5 people, or hit big bumps. I wouldn't mind raising the back 1 inch, and the front 1/2 an inch, but I would like to keep it a little lowered.

My friend now says I need a camber kit, and he said that will allow to adjust something (I don't know what exactly it does), and it'll stiffen up the suspension. I also seen on ebay, like a stabilizer bar, or something like that. Would that be of any help??

Or what else could anyone suggest that I do to make it so that my wheels don't rub against the side. Thanks a bunch in advance

lol... nah... I'm thinking that he likes to believe he knows a lot about this stuff, but I'm now starting to doubt him.

Expensive lesson learned.

I have a 6th generation civic hatch.

Yeah, even though I THINK the civic is designed to fit 5 people max...( can't see more than 4 / 4 seatbelts ) I never ride with more than one passenger in mine. I have Tokico Illumina shocks ( set on 5 / full stiff ) and Skunk 2 springs ( for civic / not integra ). Mine is lowered to one finger gap from the top of the tire to the fender. And that is fine for getting around. for me that is... haha

But if i have people in the back or anything it can rub a bit.

:I'm running a 205 width tire. I wouldn't suggest anything wider than that for the street.
Common sizes are
205/40/17
205/40/16
205/45/16
205/50/15
195/50/15
etc....

if you want it low, but want to still carry many passengers around, I would get some stiffer springs and some nice quality shocks to handle the extra weight.

Maybe some Eibach custom rate springs and some Koni's

when you buy a car and then you dump it or at least lower it, your camber and toe changes you cn't adjust the camber untill u get camber kits and then align that baby!

well the one big problem that you have right now is your friend spiting out all this bullshit. Also, are your rims rubing or your tires? The offset of your rims may not be correct for civics. Also, im sure your shitty coils arent helping. If you dont want your car to sag with 5 people in it, raise it up or get a stiffer suspension setup.

nice lookin car.keep in mind the more you stiffen your suspension the less its going to ride smooth. depends on what kind of driving you plan to do with this car.

I'd think of selling those wheels, special edition you could probably get a good price for em, they do look nice though, and getting some US Si 15" wheels that come on stock US Si, they look nice too.
I hope you have wheel lug nut locks and/or alarm, the nicer the wheels you have the more likely they are to get stolen. or get to park in garage

have fun, I have Civic 2000 EX, going to eventually put 15" Si wheels on it.
Putting Rear Anti-Sway bar on first

You need stiffer springs.

Are you on ubrf.org?

Thx, yeah, once I seen those rims, I really liked them. And was all excitted, but now I don't want to dump a lot of $$ in the car to stiffen the suspension.

I just wanted a nice pair of rims, to go with the car, but now this is bugging me a bit. And to sell them, well they have some scratches on them (for me it's not bad, but someone else might think it's bad).

I would be interested in selling/trading them, but I don't really know what I could expect to get for them.

If anyone has any ideas, or offers, let me know, but I'm not really sure what to expect.
