if i dont shift smooth, most of the time my car studders into gears hard. i changed the trans fluid, thought it was worth a try, seems to have helped a tiny bit.

what could this be?

 

 

your clutch may have taken a dump. shuddering--especially going into 1st gear, clutch chatter, gears grinding, hard to downshift, are all indicators something has broken off.

 

i didnt know stuff could break off the clutch.. i figured it was the transmission.

 

I had a problem where my clutch was adjusted incorrectly... meaning it was not completely disengaging when I shifted, and it would grind real bad. So I raised the engagement point and it was fine. If the clutch is worn then it may not be completely disengaging the synchros. If all else fails try using GM syncromesh friction modified fluid. Really smooths things up.
