Default I want to turbo my 97lude....pls help me out...!

Hey! i have a 97nonsh lude with 100,000 miles. I want to boost my lude and would very much appreciate everybody's help.. I've tried this b4 but never worked out coz the kit wasnt installed right.. and now i'm asking all u lude owners out there that has successfuly turbo'd their ludes to pls help me. i really want this to work out for me as it has for u guys. i really love my car... and i know u guys feel the same about ur's..pls help me..! idont know anything about cars much more my lude. the only thing i know is to put the key in the ignition, start it, then drive it..and as far as repairs and maintenance the only thing i know is to put air in my tires..so im asking u guys pls help me out. i want this to work out for me...

i have the turbo kit already.drag gen 3 and dont plan to boost that high, not hoping for high hp gains, and im getting close to saving up for the build up, new pistons, sleeved, rods etc.....:

1. what else do i need to boost my lude?
2. what kind of ecu will i need?
3. is there a way for me to keep my a/c after installing the kit?
4. with so much mileage on my car, and im planning to build up the motor to handle the boost, would u guys still advise this?
5. how dependable will my car be after the motor build up and the turbo instal?
6. how long can i expect my engine to last after the turbo instal?
7. do i need to pass a comp test and leak down b4 i build up the motor? or that wont matter since im building it up?

I know this post is pretty long. BUT PLS, PLS BEAR WITH ME! i want this to work for me as it has for u guys. pls help me out! i've searched so many times in hear but i need specific answers that concerns my car and the situation im in.. i dont know what to do and im really asking for every1's help...! thanks guys...! sorry it this is long...! pls help me out...!

I highly reccomend building the motor first.. i just turbo'd my stock motor with greddy kit and IC and now my piston 4 ring land is going out.. only after 5 months of boost..

it killed my motor very fast

hmm well I suggest taking that kit off. research hardcore for over a year. And then decide if it's still a good idea...

You are asking wayyyyy too much, too many variables are involved with everthing u asked...

guys..........quit being party-poopers, you're almost scaring me away from turbocharging my lude. i know, i know, the truth hurts. but did you guys do it right? what ems did you use?

gokuss4- if you're gonna turbo the lude i suggest spending a huge amount of time reading about it. At PreludeOnline.com there is a list of people who have successfully and unsuccessfully turbocharged their car, and the results show:
about half of boosted rides blow ringlands before 9 months of boost.
Not to boost over 7 lbs.
intercooled turbocharging is safer than supercharging.
most people's motor do not last past a year, and if it does it's because of 6 lbs. or less boost.
the tuning stage and engine management is the most important factor in keeping you're turboed engine reliable. Use an AEM EMS or Hondata S200 w/boost. They may cost a lot, but they are reliable, and pretty pimp too.

If you are able to wait to build the motor, i suggest you just keep it in you're pants until you do.....that way you don't have to re-tune once you get it built. I personally can't wait to build. I have the money to either turbocharge or build the motor, and i won't have the money to do the other till next summer. And i can guarantee you that i'm not driving around for a year with 9:1 compression and no boost (that would suck). Find a reputable tuner who is confident with tuning your system. that seems to be the biggie. Well, good luck.

Are you wanting to build this motor for boost or just goin on stock internals? If you are going on stock internals, i sugges a leak down and compression test. If you yeild some good numbers then you can boost on stock internals with maybe say, new rings. If you plan to build the motor for boost, do that first. get all your motor work completly finished, make sure everything checks out. if you arent going to be boosting higher than 8-9 lbs, whats the point in spending a few grand to overbuild a motor and not use it to its full potential ? seems like a waste of hard earned cash. Think on this a bit longer, decided if its really the way you want to go, contemplate a fully built motor on only 8 lbs, vs stock internals on 8lbs. The only thing ive read that dies on stock internals is the ringlands, or if you up the boost , shoot a piston through the block. i hoped ive helped you. good luck

Get all of the stuff done in a reputable shop with good workers that are knowledgeable and get it tuned with the proper ems like hondata or aem. Your motor is only going to be as strong as it was built don't cut any corners or use any loopholes.
