auto-xin' fun to chitty day...
well, i went to a auto-x event in bremerton, wa. it was definitely different than the course i went to in everett. it was at the bremerton raceway and was a much faster course. it was raining so i did not put on my kosei/azenis and used my crv/kumho combo. surprisingly, the kumho's did an excellent job. i did get a lot of understeer, but i think that was due to my inexperience. after the first two runs, i kept missing a gate so i had someone ride with me. my brother also came with me and was missing the same gate and that somewhat got us to be known by the announcer. he was saying stuff like, "the kim brothers do it again...".
anyway, i kept getting better and more comfortable with the handling of the car in the rain. the rain had let up so the course wasn't as wet in my later runs. my best time was a 49 something clean. the average was 50 so i was more than happy.
however, my luck turned ugly on my last run. i was going in very strong and fast. i didn't pay attention to the fact that it had started raining slightly again getting the course more wet. i was in the last stretch where the course had two sets of slaloms. i got past the first one, but was way too fast for the second set and my back end whipped around. i attempted to squeeze the throttle and counter-steer, but i was already sliding somewhat sideways. anyway, i skipped across a ditch and flew into the bushes.
it definitely would have been my fastest lap!! i was pulled out by a truck and the motor started right up so i just drove the 40 minutes home.
the obvious damage is jdm front bumper, jdm core support, jdm bumper rebar, fuxored alignment, and passenger door. i am luck the hood and fenders were untouched other than the scratches and dents from the bushes. overall, i had fun.
i bet i will get flamed for saying i had fun, but there are prices to pay for racing your car. the car did exactly what she was suppose to do until i pushed it too far for the weather. my brother and i were in the car and came out unharmed. my seats kept me in really good.
i haven't had too much luck with this car, but i will be out there again.
edit: anybody with a spare jdm bumper, jdm core support, jdm rebar, and door?
btw, my brother and i were really famous after that incident.

i was pretty bummed at first, but after pressure washing it after leaving the auto-x site, it wasn't TOO bad, but overall BAD.

my highflow carsound cat throws a 67.
not a big deal. when i go OBD-1, it'll take care of everything. however, that's the least of my worries.

sorry for the extra post, but my slave cylinder is pushed back i believe. it's the piece where one would bleed the clutch. is it bad if it's pushed back? you can see just about how much it was pushed back in this picture.

Ouch. That looks a lot like Yuki's car when I bought it from him with the exception of the door damage. The front end damage doesn't look that bad but that door damage might indicate some frame damage. I heard that the course was fast and that you weren't the only one to go off course. I spun my ITR at a track day and caught some air but it was all good since I spun on the airstrip. At least you wrecked your car under legitimate circumstances but I do recommend going back to sharpen your skills once you get your car back on the road.

tell me about it. i guess this racing stuff gets expensive.
whatever, it's no show car, but it sucks that i make it look worse when i race it.

Fixer up and get back on that track.....at least your not hiding your caR in the garage like some pussies. Good to see your at least using it for its real purpose, and nobody say "what to wreck it"

Ouch.
Glad to see you're ok, and that you're keeping it in perspective. I spun at an autox in February and hit a wall (backwards), and I was pretty bummed. But cars can be fixed, as long as the people are ok. Get back on that horse

Sorry to see the damage. You seem to be taking it well. Front end is an easy fix, but the door is going to be your big problem. Good luck with the repairs.
