wheel play (front radius rod?)
hey my name is tyler and i own a 91 crx si. i love crx's like most of us here and have somewhat of an obsession with them. i am also in the learning stages when it comes to anything automotive, however i am a very quick learner. i have learned so much from this forum and a few others and thank everyone here for maintaining this helpful environment for us car enthusiasts.
now that i have established a slight introduction here, i would like to tell you about my problem. it has been with the car since i have purchased it, but has only gotten worse. i suspect that the previous owner got into an accident of some sort in the problematic area becase the plastic shielding all around the front drivers side is gone, and its got a diff front bumper, plus this problem. also, one of the bolts holding the FRR to the LCA is missing, and i always had to tighten the other one because it kept coming loose. (since then i have picked up another bolt but have been too lazy to put it in because of how hard it is to access the area where the bolt is)
the drivers side front wheel has play, meaning it goes front to back easily. (example: im in neutral, then i get into 1st and being to accelerate, i can feel and hear the wheel going back, but only initially. then i let off the throttle, and it goes forward, accelerate again, and it goes back.)
i have tried so many times to find out what is letting it move so loosely. the only prediction i have is the front radius rod, and its connection to the front xmember is bad. what do you think it is?
thanks in advance for reading.

k, its not aligned right for me to even get it in, its at a slight angle when you look through the hole from the top. so i couldnt even get the bolt in because of the weight of the car and the alignment is off. what parts should i take off to get to the bolts easiest? i dont have a lift but i got a floor jack and some jack stands and cinder blocks. what would the the best way to put the car up so that i can get both bolts in? thanks.
To get the other bolt in your going to need to loosen up the bolt thats already in there. Get a jack and lift up on the LCA, play with how high you go and it'll line up eventually. Get both bolts slightly threaded then tighten them back and forth.
You should be fine even with one bolt in (assuming its nice and tight), but having both bolts in is always recommended. About the play, you should inspect the nut on the front end of the radius rod to make sure its nice and somewhat tight (compare with the other radius rod). If its tight, then u may want to order new bushings for the radius rods. Energy Suspension makes them (you can go through summitracing.com to buy them). I used ES bushings before i got my jimfab crossmember and they were sufficient. Good luck and let us know your findings.

While the car is up in the air, remove wheel, remove shock fork, then that should give u plenty of room.
