toda valve springs are reccomended
12mm of lift is a lot, stock springs will bind up

Would that be all that I would need? I want to do this the right way any suggestions would be great. I came from the wrx world so N/A is some what new to me. I have done a lot of reading but I did't find that many posts of built b16b's.

It is also possible to just switch out your inner valve springs with portflow inners and you should have somewhere near .040 before coil bind which is acceptable on our motors.

However I believe for the ITR outer/Portflow inner setup you will need Portflows titanium retainers to handle the 12mm of lift that the B's have.

Am I going to need to port and polish the head? Also is the ctr's 10.5:1 compression high enough to run the b's with good results?

You can run 10.5 with the B's. It is not ideal but can you run it? Sure why not. The stock CTR head will flow plenty for B's and your compresion.

I thought CTR motors were 11:0.1 compression?

Anyway, remove a layer from your headgasket or have the head shaved .020 if your that worried about the compresion.

Or change your crank out to a an ITR crank since that B16B block is internally the same as a B18c. The added stroke will bump the comp up for you.

Just do it the right way the first time, and get the Toda valve springs and titanium retainers..

Don't do Toda's period. The cams are crap, stay with your ctr's, do a Skunk 2 stage 2, or the best.....Jun 3's and Jun valvetrain. Go to importreview.com and look at the dyno sheets, you'll see that a ctr cam will out-perform a Toda B...

dont have any experience with toda b's but i am going with skunk2 stage2's over my ctr cams, i am using the rev valvetrain with retainers, springs, and vavles. With 12mm of lift you will need to upgrade you vavletrain to handle that.
