TCRA at Puhrump, NV next month....
Anyone doing the Touring Car Racing Association event close to Vegas this June. A few of us from Phoenix may be heading up there since we are pretty much "toast" for a few months...it's road trip time!
What is the track like?
Does TCRA generally have a good turn-out?
It looks like my H2 ITR fit's well in the class's.

Paul,
I haven't been to Pahrump, but I'd like to. I have, however, run with TCRA several times. Took their Time Trial School and ran a time trial at Willow Springs last month. They are a really good group, well organized, haven't seen any accidents in the two weekends I've been out there with them. They usually have a fairly decent turnout, I think there were about 30 racers between the two groups, and another 15 or so time trialers. There is a wide variety of different cars, in basically a run-what-ya-brung format, as far as the liberal classes are concerned. I think your ITR would do very well out there.
Kiwi and Shawn Bota (SBE) from the WCHC can vouch for their race groups. Shawn was the Under 2.2 Challenge Champ last year, and they both use the group for testing the Special Projects Motorsports cars.
I would love to run this track, but I don't think my car will be ready in time. I'm selling my IntegraLS, so I don't want to run it on the track anymore, the Civic isn't ready yet, and it's killing me not being able to run with anyone or practice right now.

Pahrump is a very technical track. Mid-Low speed. I have been to the track a bunch of times in various cars, and I would have to say, I can't really imagine doing wheel2wheel there since the track is not very wide. (well I guess if they can do W2W at Streets of Willow, you can do it anywhere)
Here's some video:
http://www.daliracing.com/v666...x.cfm
Check the bottom of the page for several in car vids.
Some things to remember:
1) Bring a tent (no garages).
2) bring some food casue there isn't any food served there (AFAIK) unless its catered,
3) remember that the track exit is THROUGH the front straight, so you cannot leave the track except between run sessions.
4) Prostitution is legal in that county.
Have fun.

Nah... not MY NSX!
And yes, they will deliver to the track...
Brings new meaning to "shifting stick"...
-That was lame, but I had to do it.

It looks like Puhrump is a go. We have 2 racers and two DE'rs. I looked the track up and it says "new" course???
Dennis.... are the pit's paved?
Also since prostitution is legal does it mean theat we will get some real "trophy girls" : )
Anyone else?
Paul

What weekend are they running? are they running a HPDE session or three?
EDIT: nevermind, just saw the info...
TCRA Pahrump Event
anyways, Parhump, Pahrump, Puhrump...
I've ran that track maybe, 15, 16 times?
Pros
- Mixture of moderate to moderately fast speeds
- 45mins from Vegas
- Elevation changes
- Privately owned
- technical and benefits both highly skilled drivers and highly ballsy drivers
- There's fun to be had AFTER racing
Cons
- horrible run-off area
- facilities kinda blow (no REAL bathroom, only port-a-potties; no garages; in order to enter/exit, you have to cross over the start/finish area)
- Privately owned (Rupert can be a dick sometimes)
- 45mins from Vegas
- entire track isn't visible from the paddock...only when someone goes off, do you know where the track is (ie. dust cloud).
- track isn't very wide
SMMP (or Pahrump) has basically two sections. an upper portion and a lower portion.
The upper portion is the slower section, with speeds around 45-70mph. Tighter turns, decreasing radius, dual apexes, following the line helps you out far more here.
The lower portion is faster, with speeds around 70-115mph (back straight brings you into the 100mph speeds+), and a lot of higher speed sweeping turns (60mph).
I have plenty of video from that track if you're ever interested.

A couple of us ran with TCRA up at Pahrump the past weekend at Spring Mountain. The reports were pretty accurate regarding the track.....
The TCRA event ran pretty smooth with plenty of seat time....if only I could keep my car on V-Tech around some of the tight off camber turns???
No tropheys but a $50 gift certifacte to "The Chicken Ranch" no I didn't use it...It's now framed sitting with my other trophys LOL...
