hey guys i just got a set of front gsr knuckles but one of the knuckles has a rip on the rubber gasket at the bottom of the knuckle where a little bolt comes out. there is a bunch of grease inside the gasget. i was just wonder if this is ok?

another question... how do can you tell the difference between gsr and ls knuckles?

that's called the lower ball joint......... no, its not okay leave it torn, but it's not the end of the world either..... it will allow dust/dirt to get into the joint and seize it, which will hamper the motion in that area.

you can just replace the dust cover for about $2 (at least thats how much mine was) but if the ball joint is old then why not replace the whole thing while youre down there. my ball joint was pretty new but i tore the boot when i replaced my upper control arms

 

No it's not that hard, especially if you already have the knuckle out of the car.
