Garnet Paper, where can I find some?
Did a search on Home Depot and the Lowe's site and couldn't find anything. I'm going to "freshen" up my 13k mile old rotors before installing a new set of pads (Carbotech Bobcats
)
)
Why do you need garnet paper in particular? Am I missing something? We used to use a scuff-X (3M) pad on a die grinder to whiz the schmutz off of rotors...

Hmm, I found garnet sandpaper at my nearby Pleasant's Hardware... Garnet papers good stuff since it doesn't embed aluminum oxide particles in the rotor like regular sandpaper supposedly does.
Garnet is THE most ubiquitous sandpaper there is. Very cheap, and nearly useless compared to better aluminum oxide or silicon carbide papers. Home Depot and Lowe's should be littered with the stuff. It is the tanish, sand colored abrasive that is always paper backed (as opposed to cloth backed).
I'm guessing the reason your search didn't find it is that garnet is not usually a selling point. Kind of like a restaurant menu listing "tap water" under beverages.
