Default Does anyone know how much the stock wheel weighs, with and without the tire?

I am thinking of upgrading to 18" Work Emotion CR Kai wheels.

What will the performance differences be?

Should be 16lbs or so without the tires on them....I thought they were at @35lbs with tires/Michelins that is.

Perhaps you should specify what car you have and what wheels. This is the RSX/EP3 forum after all.

DC5 rims weigh 16lbs without tires. The only 18s you'll be able to pull off with minor HP loss are Volk CE28Ns, TE37s, and the Centerline Forged RPMs. Try to get something that weighs as close to the stock weight of the rim as possible.

I'd only use work rims on Rally cars, damn they are well build but abit on the heavy side. it must weight like 21lbs for the 18 inch size, cast and heavy not too good for road racing.

It's Volk, not Work. You get no sleep last night? The 18" TE37s weigh 18 pounds. The TE37s and CE28Ns are forged, not cast. Who in their right mind would pay 2K for a set of rims with no tires if it was cast?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you know how much the 18" or 17" Work Emotions weigh?

Would you say I should go with 17s instead?

On a side note: By any chance do you know how much to torque the wheels when tightening them?

According to Sports Car Revolution on Speed TV, the stock RSX-S wheel and tire combo weighs 38lbs. If I were you, I'd go with 17" if you're concerned about keeping the weight down.

Just to clarify things, weight is not what you should be concerned about in terms of a wheel affecting hp to the ground. What you should be concerned about is rotational inertia. The farther you move a weight away from the center of rotation, the higher the rotational inertia, and this is exponential. Going with a bigger diameter wheel moves the mojority of the the wheel mass further from the center and will hurt performance, even if the rim weight is the exact same as stock.

Great. Thanks for all the advice.

I've decided to get 17" Bronze Work Emotion Cr and the Mugen Sport Suspension.

weight does play a big part also even if the size of the rims are the same.
