Default is HID supposed to be brighter on the driver's side?

Just wondering... I have an aftermarket HID setup in my '94 Integra (JDM conversion). The HID beam seems to be slightly brighter on the driver's side of the car. Is this normal?
Thanks

The alignment of the headlights is likely giving you this effect. The beam pattern is supposed to be higher on the left than the right (for JDM). Try shining your lights against a wall instead of looking at it on the ground.

That's unfortunately just one of the problems with running a RHD-optimized head light on a LHD vehicle. Aiming will help slightly, but you'll never have an ideal pattern.

If there still new give it time to burn in correctly and if you wanna make sure the aim is correct just take the car to a shop that does inspection and have them re-aim your headlights.

The problem is that the lights are JDM, which means that they have a pattern like this:

---\---\___

instead of like this:

___/---/---
