Default Honda Minor Service

did you guys take your ep3 into the dealer after you reached 7,500 miles? For minor service I mean, is it necessary?

Where i work McDavid Honda

Our 7500 service basically includes:

Oil change
4 Wheel tire rotation
4 wheel balance
check and adjust tire pressures to specs
inspect car for anything abnormal (any fluid leaks, tire wear, brakes)
fill all fluids to "full level"

Cost is about $110 plus tax

Edit: Is it necessary? No.
Would i recommend it? yes

depending on your conditions you should have either a 10k or a 20k check your owners manual to find out if you live in severe conditions or normal

Default Re: Honda Minor Service (the giant EP3)

there are two service intervals 3750 or 5000

3750---------> oil change
7500--------> minor service
11250-------> oil change
15000------->major service
18750-------> oil change
22500-------> minor service
26250-------> oil change
30000-------> major service

....and so on

Most people drive in traffic so that makes them go on the severe conditions schedule (3750).

We usually dont go by the 5000 maintenence schedule since I live in houston the customers go by severe schedule.

I work at an Acura/Infiniti dealer and listen when I say this: If you do your services at the dealer whenever a questionable warranty issue comes up (Motor, Tranny etc.) the dealer is more likely to do everything they can to help you out. You have alot better chance to get whatever it is taken care of rather than someone else with 40K whoise car has never been in to have any service done. In the end it IS worth it.

Wheels balanced with only 7500 miles on the car? It's basically an oil change/check fluids and a tire rotation service. $110 for an oil change is WAY WAY TOO MUCH. You can easily do this yourself.

Any person with basic tools and a knowledge of cars can do this themselves. I have never taken my car to a shop to get work done.

I've done more than balance my wheels. Oil change, replaced the brake pads, resurface the rotors, replaced the filter for the HVAC, blah blah blah. Luckily I know my way around cars. =D

You see but most people don't have a way to get to a brake lathe and a wheel balancing machine. I never said you didn't know your way around cars. They are easy to work on especially honda/acuras. But you see there are people who are scared to work on cars on don't have a way to getting around and using other tools besides hand tools and they end up paying me to work on their car.

Dealerships are damn crooks with their prices. You will save alot of money doing things yourself, and you will also learn alot.

Grab a buddy that's a wrench head, buy the buddy a 6 pack of beer, and learn! That's what my friends do.. of course they just stand around and smoke while I'm doing most of the work. If they don't learn, they owe me a pack of smokes and dinner. If they actually learn, then the beer is just fine.
