Default Temp Prob...Need help asap!

My cars temp gauge keeps jumpin and I'm not talkin slowly rising, it is almost moving like a tach. I already changed out the thermostat with a failsafe high-temp and that fixed it until today.I was on highway and all of a sudden it rises quickly to 3/4. then it would drop just as fast. I dont see how the temp can actually change that fast! Pl ease help.

Does it boil? Does the engine feel like it acts/runs hot? There is a possibility your gauge could be fucked up. Get an autometer water temp gauge

nah it doesnt feel like its too hot at all and the speed at which it moves is crazy for a temp gauge. When i changed the thermostat last time it seemed to cure it for a week or so. I think it might be because i turned the ac **** to cold even tho the belt isnt hooked up. So im gunna run it again to find out for sure., but the temp gauge is sumthin i want to do in the future. How hard is it to hook up?

My temp gauge does the same thing...Hit the turn signal and you can watch it dance to the beat I just make sure that my car always has plenty of water and I wired my fan to 12V ignition power so it is on whenever the key is.

Did you check the sinding unit when you changed the thermostat? The sending units have been know to go every once in a while.

My gauge does it too. Even after the b16a swap it does it. I think its the cluster. I've been told if the engine ever overheats enough to get the gauge all the way to the top past the red that the gauge will break. That maybe bs but it could be.

It could be, but seems very unlikely. Just borrow someone else s cluster for a couple hours, and plug it up. You ll get your answer right away.

lmfao, my gauge does this too. I hit a bump in the road and it SHOOTS to full HOT. I smack the top of the cluster and it comes back down, until I hit another bump.

Im thinkin it's grounding out somewhere behind the cluster.

Seeing mine did it before and after me swap I believe that its the cluster or a short in the wiring.
