You guys think this is stolen too?
I was looking the specs over on this car for a guy interested in buying it, he sent me the link to this site and photos...

So I'm scrolling down the phots and get to the one where the vin is broken off the gearbox....Now look at the 4th digit on the motor stamp. Look fugged up? You bet it does(At least in the photo)! Anyone in the DC/Virginia area missing a motor and gearbox? I guess he's selling it on ebay...

If you guys agree it looks suspicious we should call the cops in his area.

i thought u were supposed to post the VIN number of the car on ebay?
You don't have to. However, you're chances of selling greatly increase as the potential buyer is able to check Carfax/vehicle history...
DV- who believes this car is bad news
if thats a J spec motor it would not have the B18C5 stamp..they dont add numbers after the C in japan. im gonna call SHADY on this one.
I thought the B18C is the common motor from Japan...

I'm not buying or selling the car, I was just looking at the specs for a guy interested in it. Then I saw this funny biz with the VIN and thought it was too suspicious to pass over. If he's claiming it's a J-Spec motor he's definetly full of ****, it would just be B18C stamped on it. Anyone in VA care to call the law?
Why get the guy in trouble? He probably has no knowledge of where the swap originally came from.
2) If he had no knowledge, the person who sold it to him did, and they'll go right up the food chain and bust whoever did it.
3) It's STOLEN. If there weren't buyers for stolen motors, there wouldn't be a market for people to steal them.

but before you go saying anything to the police...maybe you should have just jotted down his plate number...got some info to be able to verify its him etc...and read what he put in his add..... IF YOU ALL ARE WONDERING I HAVE THE RECIEPTS FOR THE CAR AND EVERYTHING THAT WAS DONE TO IT....
maybe you could have emailed the guy instead of calling the cops on him? just a suggestion. I have my car on EBAY right now. my carfax says it was in a front end accident and they can't verify if my airbags went off or not. couple things...why would i put my vin number up for everyone to see? why would i want someone to see a carfax report like that when the damage to my car was literally a tire brushed up against my fender(and i basically took wax to remove it) etc. Not sticking up for anyone....i just say don't jump to conclusions. My B18c5 in my car came from a salvage car. My buddy totalled his car and i bought the car from his insurance company through him. I'm sure its unusual to see an itr motor in a gsr as well. Also...when you purchase a block from honda...there isn't a plate either. just some more thoughts. i don't know this guy from a hole in a ground...just some comments from me..the peanut gallery

It's not a stolen motor. man take a closer look. It's a JDM motor posing as a USDM motor. Here, look closely at the 5 in the B18C5:
His

Mine (for comparisons sake):

Look how the '5' is cleaner, and out of place . . . definelty JDM motor . . .
The hoods ugly, and I am not defending the guy, just helping you guys get the record straight . . .
Either that or his pic is photoshopped, then everything goes otu the window . . .

1. Why claim its JDM when it ISNT?
2. Where is the VIN tag on that tranny?
if it IS a LEGIT car then that guy has no reason to be worried.
EDIT: its a JDM motor POSING as USDM ? LOl..

np....but just so you know...thats not the block..thats the tranny case vin number. in a hybrid....i wouldn't always expect the tranny vin and block number to match. I've used Si, gsr and ITR tranny's and cases on my teg. some with plates some without. Most of the time...its just a case with different gearing like my current one.
i see your point..don't get me wrong...but i'd personally be pissed if the cops questioned me because someone that wasn't missing it called the cops on me without asking questions first. The ole guilty until you prove your innocent case. hey...your right though...he could be a thief...or he could be about to get his ***** busted for nothing.
