Default Can you blow a motor at idle?

I recently bought some injectors w/ lesser miles and put them on my car...I started the car and it idled VERY rough so I let it idle about 5 min to see if it'd work itself out..it didn't..I put the old ones back in SAME freaking thing! Now I'm throwing cylinder misfire codes 71-72-74 I don't know what to do..any idea's is this even possible...I did back it out of the driveway and it had trouble getting back up the drive way in reverse...HELP!

Are they stock injectors? or are they bigger ones? I don't think you blew it, you probably just ran really rich and fouled your plugs, leading to misfires. pull your plugs and find out.

hey daniel,

have you checked compression ? sometimes lowe CR reading can cause idle to be a little rough..

Ive seen gay things like injectors not working in one cylinder but when moved to another cylinder it worked fine. Try playing musical injectors and mix them up a bit. In all honesty it doesnt make any sense, but then again nor does your problem...

I'm Gabriel...my friend Daniel drives a purple hatch...this is my car.. I'm gonna do a compression test today..I just didn't think it was even possible to damage a motor that much at idle..And besides that the car was running just fine right before I pulled it into the garage to put the injectors in..so I know whatever happened happened in the garage!

Yes you can blow your motor at idle, oddly enough it happened to me. I had a ZC in my 91 hatch, just got done eating at Coney Island, pulled out to a red light and sta there. Then bam, all of the sudden it starts running ROUGH, real rough and smoke everywhere. I was able to drive it home very slowly. Got home and found out the rings in cylinder #1 blew out. I chuckled then tore the motor apart.
