Default Pic of "H23A DOHC Vtec" -> question about distributor

originally from here : http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/483989/1

Its a REAL H23A Vtec, from the accord wagon.

my question is, look at where the distributor should be, or is that the dizzy? just partially taken apart.. maybe someone can shead some light. i just can't tell from the pics what it is.

Being as its a racecar from the pictures, they're probably running something off the crank for spark.

It says ELECTROMOTIVE TEC3 Management System on http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/483989/1
might be a distributorless ignition system

I think it might be his old set up before he install his distributorless ignition system, the intake manifold is still there too on the pic.

I was reading in the description of the engine mods on his homepage, and it says distributor cap; clear kind

what the hell does that mean??? Sure do't see the dizzy cap anywhere...what a confusing but badass setup!!

correct .......tec3 comes with its own coils so there is no need for a honda type

TEC3 is engine management that uses a distributorless ignition system, that is why he does not have a distributor... The Electromotive TEC3 system seems pretty badass but it's about $2500 ...

Hi guys

It's my car and to clarify things: Yes there used to be a distributor there and this thing there now is a cam angle sensor from a D-series engine. The reason I am experimenting with this is because the electromotive has a crank angle sensor with which only paired sequential injection can be achieved. with the help of a cam sensor you can have true individual sequential injection and thus my experiment in fitting the cam angle sensor. The whole thing fits except for the securing points...but that's fixable. I could also plug it up and leave it to paired sequential injection, but my compulsive desire to get it right leads me to believe I will also tackle this detail.
Furthermore, my bisimoto header is also being built as we speak

ah its nice to start a thread on friday and come back on sunday nick and see 19 posts!! nice, glad to see we got some info on this..

so the 2 things that are still on my mind is what size are the mains of the h23a , 50 or 55mm, im gonna guess 55 seing as how that the SiR wagon was made 98+

solsurvivor - do you think you can try and get some measurements on your crank mains, or haveyour local shop look up the part number for the honda bearing for the h23a motor, or the part number for the crank it self.

and secondly,, why in hell does the D eries need a crank angle sensor.. god i live such a sheltered life, a prelude life, i eat and breath H series..

55mm mains...I confirmed that a long time ago. And it was SiR Wagon, no sir-t...you're thinking of the accord sedan with the F20B

Mkay might be my first post , but lets make this clear: its a true h23a commin from a accord sir, thats not a h22a head on a h23 crank. And believe me this baby makes one hell of a nice sound mad props for randall making such a beast!
