Default how many guys in here making over 400 hp on non lsd trannies?

im sorry ask such a dumb question but i need to get my tranny back together since i messed up the ring gear and counter shaft. i hae my tranny town apart and thought i would go ahead and add a oem itr lsd unit but i dont have the extra money to add a lsd since i lost my job recently but i need to get my car back on the road. i hae enough money to fix the tranny back to the way it was but i am afraid that it will just break again since i dont have a lsd at least thats the reason i was told it broke in the first place.

i was just curious i know wheel hop breaks axels but i have no idea i could break my tranny like this expecially since i dont dog on it at all.

are there any guys in here that are making over 400 hp on stock differentials?

oh yea this is a 2001 gsr tranny

plenty of people on here are running great #s on stock diffs. sixtydashone is one of them, he ran 10s on a stock diff and pep boys axles. i dont think not having an lsd is why your tranny broke in the first place. the itr lsd probably wouldnt do much anyway when making over 400hp.

The ITR lsd is not what you should be looking for. I am going on memory here but I heard the ITR lsd is good till about 250-300whp....maybe not even that high.

You need a quaife

Don't waste your money on the ITR lsd. I also have never heard of not having an lsd causing you to ruin your tranny. Thats usually driver error. Save up your money and do it the right way....quaife is lifetime guaranteed and probably the best lsd on the market

the LSD wont help for what you did. Wheel hop kills everything in the trannies. its sick. just launch higher and be safe. better to spin a little then hop.

if i had the money id go for Quaiffe. im waiting till my ITR one blows out. But its held together to a bit of HP for quite some time now and will be handling alot more in the next week or 2

i would agree with you except on the driver error part. i baby my tranny i never power shift and i never grind. not once on this tranny. i dont understand why my ring ear and countershaft broke. literally like 5 teeth on each were missing.

possibly a freak accident?

so your saying if i dont haveenough money for a lsd unit right now and i need my tranny back together to get the car back on the road i will be ok with a open diff and over 400 hp?

WELL that might not really help the case of not breaking the tranny. some are lucky some arent. I am not one of the lucky ones either.

yea .. i guess when i boosted in 2nd gear and the wheels lost traction at about 5000 rpms i got bad wheel hop and thats when it happened. ill try to be more careful next time.

that is a lot of power to have and if he does run it at the track with some 24 inch slicks I would like to see that itr diff hold up.

u can hold well over 400-500 hp with a stock/open or itr diff...i think more diffs are breaking from driving styles and weight of the vehicles(heavy)...IMO

actually with 680 at the wheels he would spin 24 inch slicks down the track, so the tranny would probly be fine.

I run open diff, haven't driven it yet, but i also have gator axles, motor mount inserts, and have a fairly aggressive clutch. Hopefully wheel hop won't be a big issue at least i hope.

Dont remember what kind of slicks he runs. He ran a 10.9 at 4500 elevation. So around a low 10 at sea level. last time he ran he broke both his after market front axles. Now hes heading for a custom axle, kinda sad. So far his LSD holds up great though
