im thinking about gettin a prelude. right now im pimpin an ES3 Lexus. I'm looking at buyin a 97-01 prelude and i had a couple questions.... First, should i get a base or SH and what are the differences? Second, What are some things i should look for or being cautious of when looking at this car? Third, what does this car run stock with a good driver? Thanks..

hey, I would recommend the base model if your looking for any serious power down the road, if your just wanting a great daily driver, with little mods, go for the SH model. The SH has a system called atts, its not a limited slip differential but works by splitting up the power transmitted to each of the front wheels based on all kinds of variables.

the SH weighs a little more(like 88 lbs or so), and both should run high 14's granted its a manual.

Just check for things you would check on any other car, preludes dont really have any problems, just make sure there are no grinds in teh tranny etc.. try to get one that has been MAINTAINED!

good luck!

H23 really only applies to 4th gen ludes. Its a non vtec torqe monster. H22 is the 2.2L Vtec that is in all 5th gens. I think anything after 98 has a little bit more HP to the wheels due to some late changes. The only thing wrong with the type SH, is that if you are going for SERIOUS power, like in upwards of 300, ATTS just becomes dead weight, and the only real way to get rid of it is a tranny swap. if you are more into auto-X then ints all good. the SH mods are usally a little bit more expensive, in terms of clutch, exhuast, suspension, headers, those sort of things.

drive both, take some bat turns, and decide if you are going turbo or N/A.
