Default min me problems! help me out pls.

this is what i have:

1988 civic hatch dx (d15b2)

already put in the car:
mpfi swap
d16z6 head
d16a6 ecu (pm6)
d16a6 distributor
zc (sohc)/d16a6 block
zc tranny
zc intermediate shaft
msd rpm switch (control vtec engagement)

the problem:

1) engine cranks but wont start.
2) the ecu blinks really fast that i was not able to count the blinks. the blinkging almost steady.
3) i dunno if the distributor is broken but the sparks only comes in once in a while
4) there is a coolant leak at the crank pulley side of the engine. maybe the water pump?

everything is hooked up and torqued right. hopefully you guys can help me out. i have spent 4 days on this swap. until now it wont even start up. please help me out. thank you in advance.

chris

Make sure you check all grounds (especially the ground that connects on the thermostat housing).

ok your wiring harness should pass by the thermostat housing (where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine) and there should be a wire with a ring on the end (the ground) and you need to bolt that to the engine with one of the thermostat housing bolts, if its not hooked up your car wont start, i just had that problem when i swapped my z6/y8 in and i hooked up the ground and it fired right up......good luck

what made it work? as for the grind did you fill the tranny with oil? and did you use a new piliot bearing? there are many different things it could be, pm me for more info....

well, actually some guy told me the wrong info on the firing order of the distributor. but did some research and found out the right one then it worked easily. it was just the plugs on the dist.

its not really a grind, i cant explain how the sound is but its like the vibration of the car gets really worse.

either use a decent impact gun, or get a long pipe and stick it on the end of your rachet and break that thing loose. (i used the handle off of my floor jack) it should twist off without to much effort.

get a pickle fork, stick it inbetween the bottom of the ball joint boot and the top of the control arm, then start pounding it in with a big hammer untill the ball joint pops loose, just dont forget to take the nut off first...
