Need Help Did Engine Swap Starts But Has Not Trottle Response
Yea I Just Finish My Engine Swap I Put a D16A1 wit a D16a6 head into my 88 civic 4door dx .... and its throw a code 4 and a code 14 ...... it starts perfect but when it starts it reall shitty idle and it sounds like a damn rotary engine and when i give it trottle it doesnt respond it just dies when i give it trottle please help
A D16A6 head on a D16A1 block huh? You got any pics of this? Anyhow, code 4 is crank position sensor(CKP), and code 14 is idle air control valve (IACV). Your woes are most likely due to the CKP sensor either failing or is broken. It is located inside the distributor. Easiest remedy would be to find another distributor. As for your IACV, is it plugged in?
stupid question but maybe somthing u may have over looked during the swap but did u hook the throttle cable back up?
are you sure its not a ZC? d16a1 wont bolt in to an EF without a lot of fabrication. also i would like to see some pictures that show your engine code, the head, and the car its in. basically because i dont believe you.

Damn didnt know that was even possible.........
I agree with Redline had my CKP sensor go out on my ZC swap years ago and it wouldnt rev past like 2k then fall flat on its face. swap it out with a known good distributor and that may tell you if thats whats wrong.
Anyhow also you may wanna check your vacuum lines and also your timing.....

yeah the D16a1 easly bolts onto the EF body when u dont use the DOHC head i just use a regular D16a6 driverside motormount and bracket but yeh i double checked everything today and i did the same thing every time i give it trottle the engine does a deep weird noise and doesnt go up on rpms

yeah i know mounts dont touch the head but u cant make the swap work if u use the dohc head cuz then the cam gear will hit the bracket for the mount .. cuz if u never had noticed befor the D16a1 has bolt hole on the side of the block perfect for a D16a6 motor mount and bracket
dude, I can't offer any help here, but I gotta see this. a d16a1 with d16a6 head...that would make a very interesting and I'd assume powerful combo especially with a built head...since a lot of people will throw the pistons from a a1 into an a6 or other d16 motor....
yeah dude it is going to run real good espically i got the head milled and ported & polish befor i got it on the block but im going to try to get pictures up later for those who dont believe me

the main difference between a d16a1 and a d16a6 IS the DOHC head so it shouldnt make that much more power if any. whats the compression ratio on that? did you rewire the car for MPFI? forget to switch the tps wires around? or did you get it running yet.

the thing is i bought my harness already made from this dude on Ebay.... he said everything should plug and play and start with out any trouble other then pinning out ,cutting and running some wires to the engine bay .... i double checked everything i got it to stop throwing code 14 but its still doing the same thing
