arias pistons, 9.0:1 can't tell intake and exhaust side help
I am putting my shortblock together, I can't tell which is which. The valve releifs look the same to me, I think I remember on my last set, that the arias stamp on the bottom goes on the exhaust side of the wrist pin but I can't remember. If someone knows kit me up.
well, they are going in a 2.0ltr gsr, so the will be in a vtec motor, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. the pistons will work with either stroke.
the side opposite to the arias stamp does look like the valve relief is closer to the edge being a little bigger, but it would be nice If someone else
has some input just to be on the safe side

I know the intake valves are bigger, my problem is the top of the piston is a big bowl, and I can't tell what side is bigger, with higher comp pistons it is easy where the dome is cut into. The valve reliefs are all but cut out because of the dish on these making both sides look the same to me

At first I was assuming the relief that came closer the the edge was the intake valve, but the other side actually looks a tiny bit deeper and I'm not putting the other spiral lock in until I know for sure.

This is why I am here
usually at least someone on here knows for certain, but regardless I am wating to hear back from ARIAS.

Put a quarter on one relief and a quarter on the other relief. It will help you see the difference in sizing. Intake side will have more material removed around the quarter than the exhaust.
Look at the piston itself. look right at the bottom of the picture where the valve reliefs hit the side of the piston. Notice the right side is thinner than the left? Right side is your intake
Just got an E-mail from Arias:
"The intake valve relieves are under "ARIAS", when you look in the
underside
of the pistons, the name ARIAS is engraved on the forging, the side
where
ARIAS is located will be the side with the intake valve relieves."
the ARIAS engraving is under the LEFT side of the piston in that picture....

It's so close its rediculous, I did put a quater in the reliefs, but it was still so close it was hard to tell.
My original thought was the left side like I said in my earlier post. I even asked my girlfriend "which one of these cutouts look bigger. She picked the left side

If you look closely at the edge of the piston, it looks like the reliefs are cut bigger on the right side of the pix. That would mean intake to the right.
That is how I would put it together, if I had to make that decision without any help.

Maybe Arias made a mistake in their e-mail.
