Default Tein SS review on my 96 GSR

Well, about 18 hours later I finally finished installing my Tein SS coilovers and TCS lca's onto my 96 GSR. All I can say is wow!!!! I've ridden/driven in many honda's/acura's with many different suspension setups and this by far is the best overall. I'm sure there are better out there, but for the money/drivability/adjustability they are amazing. The ride is unbelievably bareable when just driving around town, even with the shocks pretty stiff, and yet still handles amazingly.

So for anyone looking for a great all around set up at a resonable price, look no further than the SS. I picked them up for 820 shipped if I remember correctly and the lca's were 165 shipped, an economical substitution for the SSR's.

Just thought I would post this up here for anyone wondering.

Interesting

I always wondered how good would they ride on a DC. I have them on my 2011 lbs 92 hatch (integra 94-01 rates) and I love them ! A tad stiff early in the morning when going to school with the crappy roads here, but I am still in love with them.

haha...oh man, I couldn't imagine having them on that light of a car. I'm sure it handles great....but not something I would want to live with on a daily basis.

People hate on Teins (Basic, SS and Flex) because the shock valving could be a lot better than what it actually is.

Yes, the stock front gsr strut bar fit over the shock tops.

I think the ride is awesome...it has a ton of flexibility and think that with some adjustment it rides just right for the stiffness of the springs.

Chris y0!, did you notice a good gain from taking off the front sway bar? I'm going to look into getting the comptech rear set up (tie bar and sway bar). I think I'll wait and see how that handles and if I still have a lot of understeer I might see what its like w/o the front sway.

i actually have a civic hatch, didn't come with one.

i am running the rear comptech sway/tie and no front bar, and with the 8K/4K rates it feels really nice.

what settings are you guys running? i have the Tein SS kit and SRR rear lca's, sway bar, and tie bar and i love the way it handles, its just that i feel that my front isnt stiff enough and its 4 notches from the stiffest position.

yeah i have the SS on my 95 prelude
they do a good job on autox
and they are pretty stiff and a bit harsh on daily driving
id like it to be a littler stiffer tho
im 6 clicks from the stiffesr setting for daily driving

I remember when I used to think that...then again that was 5 years ago.

The SS's are a good street shock. Inexpensive, large range of adjustment, and decent handling potential. Definately not a something I would be confident in using for auto-x or even more so, on a road course. Valving just can't handle the load needed for track durability. Some RA's would be more appropriate.

Hehe, after running on a few different suspensions I king of giggle hearing the SS being called somewhat stiff.

Then again, I'm a freak and driving around on 16k/12k(12s turning into 14s soon) on the street

Well, considering I've had stock springs/shocks for the past 2 years, yes, they are stiff.

I would like you to come back and lets us know how they feel after a few month's. I had the same set of shocks on my 94 RS and they felt great when they were new. But after about three month's of street driving on shitty Hermosa and Redondo Beach streets they felt pretty worn. Yes they started bottoming out all the time and just felt very worn. I bought them brand and didn't lower the car too much. Thanks

I've had my SS's for about 6 months and they still feel fine...
