A thermostat has nothing to do with gauges, check wiring.

Theromostats control water flow, has nothing to do with gauge. Are you talking about the water temp sending unit? Or, get an autometer water temp gauge.

OH I see, are you running a thermostat? I'd stick with a stock honda thermostat for that particular engine.

You can use one for a 99-00 Si or a 94-97 Del Sol VTEC.

first get a factory one, aftermarket parts are crap. why take the chance on aftermarket parts, saving alittle now can cost you big in the future. you can get a b16 one from a del sol or a 99-00 si. or if you want run a type r one. opens a little earlier.

but you might have another problem other then the thermostat.

when the car warms up, are both hoses getting warm? upper and lower radiator hoses.

yes i know that the hoses get warm means that the thermostat is open and working but its just that it doesnt warm all the way to operating temp, and if it doesnt get to operating temp=NO VTEC

but it doesnt go by the guage postion, it goes by the temp itself. i know no vtec if not up to temp, dont have that problem myself, mugen chip. but if you need to know the temp, stick a guage in it. open the radiator cap when cold and warm up the car with a thermometer in there. that will give you the temp.

also check your iac valve. that is what controls start up idle. could be stuck. or readjust you idle if that is the main concern, not a t-stat problem. also clean out your t-body.

I wish to get a little closure to this thread i had the same problem.

The car would never get to temp when it was driving. It would heat up fine at idle but when i drove it the temp went down and would not come back up unless it was idle. (i was thinking the thermostat was stuck open)

upon replacing the thermostat with one that didnt look likt was half as beefy (from autozone) from a 97 sol vtec the car stays warm now when i drive.

so it did fix the problem. but then another prob arose. now sometimes wile driving the car will stop blowing warm air. (has happened about three times lasts for about 2-3 min and then starts blowing hot air out agan.) wile the guage says its at normal opperating temp.

and the idle wile spike and fall rapidly like something is wrong with the iacv. but it will only do it about half the time. sometimes it will be fine and idle low and smooth.

i have no clue whats going on now.

thanks.
