Default Ordering a new ITR head from the factory...

I called the dealer today to see how much it woud cost to get a new head for my ITR. He quoted me 1300$ If you get a new head from the factory, does is come Port and Polished like the original R heads or do you have to get that done somewhere else. Also, anyone know where I can get a new ITR head for cheaper?

I get good discounts all Honda/Acura stuff becuase I work as Tech at a Mazda dealership and we have some kind of other deal with the Acura/Honda dealership down the road... I can check and see what my pricing is.. I mean I got two 97 ITR shifts ***** which list at 97 each for 150 for both.. Also got the side badging down from 37 to 10... http://www.acuraparts247.com <-- Sunnyside Acura's online parts catalog..

listed as $1401.47 + shipping, doesn't come with the valvetrain..

prepare to spend $2000 or so.. this is a complete, new, cylinder head from the factory - keep that in mind.. it's not going to be cheap..

Why dont you search around and find a used head?

They're not "ported and polished" from the factory anyways.

If you go to ITRsport.com, and I quote "involves hand polishing of the intake and exhaust ports near the valve seat area." B18C5 heads are supposed to come P&P from the factory--unless your saying otherwise or you are making it a point to differenciate between hand-polishing and port & polishing.

polished = yes, around exhausts ports and near valve seat area as quoted
ported = no

So the ITR heads do in fact come "hand-polished" from the factory if I bought one at present time?

1) I wouldn't know where to get one other than online...and the last thing I want to do is buy a used head that is stolen or f'd up.

2)I want a new one from the factory but I don't want a half-*** ITR head that is the same as other ones, but is not hand polished because, if for some strange reason, they stopped hand polishing the intake and exhaust ports when the ITR went out of production.

However, if anyone has got a new or low milage ITR head they want to sell me....I would consider it if yo got dem vouches. Just PM me without hesitation.

If you are careful, use escrow, get vouches, etc there's no reason not to....

Thinking of getting a new head because I'm worried my spark plug threads may be close to stripped and the cam journals are all scratched from mods by the previous owner or something.

Pull the head and run a tap through the threads, plastigauge and spec the cam caps.

Do you know the cam journals are scratched? Or just assuming? Best bet would be to check out the cam journals and go from there.

As for the spark plug, chances are they're ok.

the cam journals should have bearings, I do believe, and as far as buying an itr head...it's not worth it. Buy a b16 head (it's the same besides tha hand polishing), take it to a machine shop and have them port and polish it. You'll save money and have a higher flowing head. ITR is not always better my friend, it's just the best from honda. Aftermarket ownz j00
