Default JDM front end w/out radiator support? A good idea to try and mod USDM one?

Ok, I'm piecein together the jdm front end for my hatch and I wanted to know if it's a good idea to try and mod the radiator support for the USDM cars to fit the the jdm hood. What would need to be done? I talked to password jdm about it and he says its possible, but will come out pretty ghetto. If ghetto to him is spacers and bending some metal, it isn't to me.

Anyone got like side by side comparison pics or something. I just am tryin to save a few bills to get a CF hood and lip.

i've seen people shimmy the support forward with washers/spacers and longer bolts. i moved the actual latch on the hood down about an inch or so...

both work

i used a half inch billet spacer that i machined and slotted the upper latch and moved it forward half an inch...met in the middle so it wasn't so obvious. this was with a jdm support. i held the jdm support from the si-r next to an edm support for a zc car and next to a us support that was on my car. all measured out the same and would work.

so in other words password was just tryin to sell me their junk?

kylefakesi-r, can you get some pics of this?

It sounds like the USDM support modded to move the latch forwards and some spacers and junk will do the trick.
It'll get painted anyways....thanks phan's the man- stan, now I gotta go ran and avoid geting a tan, i best shut up before i get the ban.

The SiR support I hear is the same as the US one, but there is a JDM one that you can just bolt on and you dont have to do the shim thing with washers. I forgot what one it was though.

Here is a writeup that schwanginpt did on http://www.ef-honda.com that had to do with using a USDM core support on a CRX. I would think that it would be about the same on a hatchback. His name is the same on here too, so you might be able to IM him here, or on EF-Honda.

Why pay someone else to do it for you?

How much does passowrd jdm want for it? If you dont do it yourself, just buy one from them.

Yeah I could, but this car will see lots of hwy driving and I'd rather not have my hood flip up on me. Plus a VIS CF hood I think I can trust for them to not break on me. (I hope) and a painted hood with pins, ehhhh, no thanks.

not quite junk...it does make the install alot easier if you have the jdm radiator supports and hood latch bracket...also, it'd be easier if you had the 2 jdm bumper supports (they're the 2 metal supports that primarily holds the bumper on, right behind the bumper lenses) because when i put my jdm front end on, the bumper wouldn't mount securely with the usdm bumper supports.

everything lined up using jdm rad support, jdm hood latch, jdm bumper supports:

Painted CF, supa sleepa style. I wouldn't paint the whole thing, just most of it.
