Default First post on HT!!!!!!!!!!! Need some help with my ITR =)

I have a 2000 Itr with Jun Header, Comptech icebox (full intake and icebox), and a A teo cat (from a long time ago, I read it was a good cat from H-T). Well my ITR fail Smog today, the sniffer said I was a gross pollutor. WHY? I still have a cat and a header and intake is not going to change things, is it? Also the computer said I fail in the timming part too (I just did my 36k miles service and the acura dealer should of checked that). Any ideals about what I should do? A buddy of mines said he can get someone to do it for $150 but I dont want to be a gross polluter.

If you've still got your OEM cat put it back on and run it through.

I've heard aftermarket cats quickly go bad.

How about what state or province or country you are trying to pass emissions in? I'm guessing Ca. with the reference to Smog and all.

Then, do you have any of the stock stuff to put back on?

Then, is this the first time you are trying to pass emissions?

Did you buy this car like this? Or did you do the work/ mods?

Teo cat? Never heard of it, Carsound passes in many places no problem.

Here is my suggestion. Retard timing by 2-3 degree and put the OEM cat back on. Good luck.

It is a carsound cat 54XXX something like that (modified by A. Teo sorrry for the confusion)
Im thinking of just doing it the illegal way, i dont want to cause its so expensive but i might have to. Anyone with a good place to do it at in Orange county california? Email mle3@sbcglobal.net

This makes sense.

I'd try that, and if that doesn't work there are a hell of a lot of good ITR Honda Tech people in California who can lend detailed assistance.

If I fail once and my itr "exceeded the gross polluter limits" do I have to go to a test only center?

everything that you put in your car has to have the carb e.o numbers on the parts... you need to either buy new parts that are carb certified, or put the stock parts back on.. the a-teo cat won't pass, nor will the jdm jun header. You can do all this, or pay someone to pass you...
