Default strong sound system = really fast dead battery?

Ok, i got a decent soud system that runs around 240watts rms (4g wiring if it matters). I recently changed my battery about a year ago. Last week, i was doing a car wash fundraiser and i left my car on for like an hour, without the engine on (no alternator power source).

Now:
-Car wont' even make that beeping sound when i stick in the key
-My dashboard would flicker on an off
-Car will not crank at all
-I'm starving and i need my car to get some food

Would this cause my battery to die THAT fast? for god's sake its only been a year. Also, what would you recommend i do when i just want to turn on my system (without having the car on)?

TIA

Or add tons of extra batteries, or get a heavy duty AC/DC converter and plug that bitch in...prolly do not want to do either just for a car wash though.

As far as the battery draining...even a stock system will do that.

I have a yellow top, I can sit in a parking lot or at school on my spare which is 75 minutes and play as loud as I want and the car starts right up

well, the stronger your system is the more it drains...but as long as your car runs and recharges the battery, you'll be fine... bigger and better batteries will last longer when the car isn't on, but it doesn't make a difference if your engine is running, and the battery is recharging.

Every time you drain a regular battery you are killing its life and its ability to recharge fully.

If you would like to continue running your stereo with the car off, a deep cycle battery such as the optima's mentioned above would be a good idea - They are designed to be drained fully, and recharged again when necessary - Multiple batteries and a regulator is also another way to go.
