Is a VX block (d15z1) block worth it?

My friend gave me a VX motor with about 90,000 babied miles on it. I plan on boosting my SOHC and want to use the VX block with a d16z6 head. Do you guys think the block, pistons, and rods would work well under boost? thanks in advance.
So I guess your doing a mini swap then? Everything should bolt up. Just make sure your cam and crankshaft timing are correct. If your motor is built properly then it should be able to withstand some boost.
i don't think its worth it. something tells me that the d15z1 has weaker pistons/ narrower rods than the rest of the d15s. but i can't recall where i heard that from.

the d15z1 bottom end uses the same rods as the jdm d15b but a different slug because of the tiny chambers on the vx head. so to answer the question, yes, its worth it.
just swap the slugs, or have a really low cr.

This is nailing it on the head. VX rods are practically the beefiest d-series rods you can use. And it would be a d15b... if it wasn't for the low compression pistons. If it wasn't for the 1.5L issue, it would make a nice low compression block for boost. Having that extra 1L is always nice though.

I hear yah.... I am running a d16z6 right now. I heard the compression is going to be around 7.5:1 which is pretty damn low. Is that too low? how much boost do you guys think I could run safely. Thanks for the input guys.

I just dont want to run it hard... I got the VX block for free so I dont really care about it. Plus if the VX motor blows it would be nicer to have spare z6 laying around than a VX motor.

It would NOT be a d15b jdm vtec.... different pistons......
