96 vtec F22b1 swap into a 90 accord NEED HELP!!!!
I swapped a 96 accord ex vtec engine into a 90 accord. I used my wiring harness from my 90 engine and everything fit fine. I am using my ecu from my 90 accord and I am also using my distributor from my 90 engine. When i start the engine it runs fine, but then when you are driving there is a knocking noise, coming from the engine and my RPM's cut off a 4500. When my car is idle there is NO knocking noise, the noise is only when i am driving. What is wrong? What is the knocking noise that i am hearing? Where is it coming from? Why are my RPM's cutting off at 4500? Please someone HELP ME!
is your 96 f22b1 vtec and OBD1 or OBD2.
if i am not mistaken, i think it may be an OBD2. i bought a 94 f22b1 and i know it is an OBD1.
2-- i think some of your problems may stem from the fact that u r running a vtec motor (which may be OBD2) off an ECU that is OBD1 and non-vtec.
3-- the RPM deal could be because your motor wants to engage into vtec, but it does not have the capability to do so...or do u have something to send a 12 volt signal to the vtec solenoid?..like a shiftlight, window switch, or something.
just my 2 cents...i could be wrong...if i am, can some1 fill us in
thanks

Sounds about right. You need to wire for vtec and change over to obd2 and if you haven't you need to change your ecu (someone correct me if I am wrong)
