I am replacing my tranny, and have a J-spec LSD tranny on the way.
anyone have any experences with one? how does handling change? 60'? am i gonna love it, or did I just waste $500?

lol no sir. I paid $1000 for a tranny. it was $500 MORE then a replacement USDM.
I had a bearing fail, thanks to jiffy lube running my tranny dry

How many miles supposedly on it? Locally you can generally expect to pay between $700-$800 for a junkyard USDM trans. Still not a bad deal if it had any warrenty with it at all.
I get good deals.
The JDM one will have 40K miles, the US-spec had 30K miles.
but... OFF TOPIC
does ANYONE here have LSD?
***EDIT: no warranty, this is on a '94***

correct me if im wrong...the phantom grip is a locking differential, similar to the way old drag racers use to weld theres together. this way both tires get the same amount of power all the time. which is very useful for launching and drag racing. but not particularly helpful with handling because power cannot be split between sides. whereas the LSD will distirbute the power to the wheel that grips.
if i remember correctly, locking differentials (or welded ones) work only well in a straight line; sacrificing serious handling in the turns... i haven't heard of anyone with a phantom grip experiencing the latter of these problems...
