Default Arp head bolt torque specs for b18b?

Ive searched but got some varied responses.
I got a 1994 b18b head that im trying to put back on, but i couldnt find the torque specs on the arp head bolts. Through some searching i came to the conclusion of 80 ft lbs, on final sequence using 10w30 oil. Can anyone say if this is correct, or if they should have been torqued to some other number.

Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Call ARP(805-339-220) the will tell you 65 ft lb with ARP lube, but for racers, It varies up to 80 ft lb+ for my app GE oring block gsr head.

arp isnt open right now, which sucks. I woulda liked to have the car running tonight if possible. As of right now there torqued down to 80 ft lb, but for some reason i think its a bit to high so i might redo it to 75 ft lb. Again i dont have molley lube i only have 10w30

so.....bump for a long night.
If anyone has torqued a LS head using arp bolts, please post up what spec you did them to. thanks.

that would bring it to 66 ft lbs. Ive seen some people on h-t use up to 80ftlbs. This is confusing...

use ARP moly lube, and torque it to 70 lb/ft. Do it in 3 steps, 22, 50 and 70. You can do it from 65 ish to 75 ish. I just like the median number, 80 lb/ft is too much esepcially with moly lube, since the moly lube actually lubricate it and gives you the actual torque reading.

I have done this many times, trust me

im gona redo them again today, but i dont have time right now to order out for the arp molley lube. I saw a similar type of lube at a local auto store, would that suffice? and if I have to end up using 10w30 what torque spec do you guys recomend? im guessing 70 - 75?

I'm sitting here at my computer with the ARP Head Stud installation instructions in front of me. This is the instructions for LS motors. -> " Torque values are based on 75% of the fastners yield strength. Use the manufactures torque sequence but do not use the engine manufacturers torque specs. Torque the nuts to 70 ft lbs for ARP MOLY ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT (or ARP THREAD SEALER) or torque to 85 ft lbs with 30wt motor oil. Due to the expansion rate of ALUMINUM, it is recommended that the torque should be 65 ft lbs with ARP MOLY ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT (or ARP THREAD SEALER). Note: Do not use any other Moly Lube. Use only ARP Moly Lube or head gasket failure can result." As you can see the instructions are pretty confusing, so that must be the reason for all the diffrent torque values people have been telling you. Good luck.

yep thats what it says on my sheet. seems pretty straight forward to me but let me clarify.

steel/iron heads (i.e. domestic cars) = 70 ft-lbs with the arp moly OR 85 ft-lbs with 10w30 oil.

aluminum heads (i.e hondas) = 65 ft-lbs with arp moly. DO NOT use any other moly or oil. ONLY USE ARP MOLY ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT.

you can get the arp lube here http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/arp.htm
Assembly Lubricant (1.69 fl. oz.) 100-9903 $6.85

i believe they recommend about 65-67# using the provided lube. but i often torque the nuts to 70-75# using the lube. some even torque to more than 75-80# for high boost appl.

Thank you for clarifying rookie... even though you have necro-bumped a 21 year old dead thread. I am sure that the OP isn't still waiting for an answer, but if someone else searches this in the future, YOU will have been the one who provided the correct information.
