The RSX Type-R coming to America?
Just finished reading the a Motor Trend Shootout between the Type-S, Celica GT-S and Eclipse GT in the December issue.
On page 107, fourth paragraph they talk about how the Type-S doesn't compare with the Type-R. The last sentence of the paragraph: "In its defense, Acura has confirmed there will be a lighter, more powerful (220-hp) RSX Type-R with even more dedicated hardware in a year or so."
How much weight do you put in this statement? If it's true, start saving up. Just picturing two type-r's in the garage.

Hey H-Pimp,
Whatever happened to your SER thingy? On that note I just finished the write up about the SER spec-V in SCC and was to say the least pretty dissapointed. I mean I know about SCC and all but, recently they have been making some sense with their Not believing or disproving Manufacturers Engine "Claimed" Outputs!
But, on the psoitive side Nissan restated that it "SER Spec-V" will be rated at 175 HP and will be sold for about $16,500. Which is right in a good pricerange for us, Even if it is underpowered.
Good luck, and wondered if We'll see you this Sunday?
Later,
A.
PS If they send it I'll buy it too, But, It's got to really be better than my current R!

I don't know...it would have to be pretty fockin' spectacular for me to jump on that boat. I'm pretty happy with my R now...especially since I've decided to start modding it.
It will come, but I think it will be a disappointment in terms of the overall feeling of speed and rawness. Think of the the RSX-R as the E46 M3 and the ITR as the E36 or E30 M3. It might be a bit quicker, but it won't be as edgy, high-revving, or visceral. So I will probably keep my old ITR.

Yeah when I drove the RSX-S I looked in the engine bay and it is packed as ****. Spoon et al. are going to have a tough time making street headers that don't scrape, AEM will have a hard time making a CAI that doesnt rub. And the new suspension/cable shifter dont excite me.
honestly guys, its coming, you can put the house on it. i am not going to say anymore tho...hahaah if you dont believe me i dont care.
The RSX-R is coming I'm sure of that. We will not get a watered down version since the RSX-S already exists. So it will have a Type R motor inside. About recaros, brembros, and all that JDM goodness...you can bet your house that we will not get that.
I don't know what I will be getting in about two years from now. The STI looks nice, but since I feel most comfortable in a Honda, I'll probably get the RSX-R.

after seeing the two (dc5r and dc2r) go head to head on the bm vid... i think i'll just keep my dc2r.

Vazquez, the video he's referring to is Best Motoring, a Japanese video magazine. They took DC2R and DC5R and the old CTR out on the track. After 3 laps, the DC5R won, DC2R was second, and CTR was dead last. But, keep in mind these guys are all equally awesome drivers. If one was to buy an RSX-R and take it down to the local track I am sure there are plenty of ITRs who would hand it its *** on a plate just by virtue of having better drivers. Likewise there are ITRs who wouldn't stand a chance against some GS-Rs. It's all in the driver (most of it is, anyhow). That's why my car is slower than most ITRs.

Where was this vid? I'm VERY interested, email me PhoenixINXcs@cs.com or post up here!
