JDM ITR LIP? ITR Badge and Identification #?
Hello, I just bought an R last week, and some of the parts (such as the middle armrest and console) were stolen from the previous owner
and were replaced with an LS one. I was wondering if there was any way I could submit my VIN to find out what # my type-R is? its a 2001 with 33k miles.
I would also like to know if anyone out there has a JDM type-R lip for sale, preferably PY but if not then thats fine. I could pick it up if you live around VA/MD/DC or I could pay for shipping. Thanks

Great. I think what we should do is get a peice of metal and a drill and make our own badge, pick a nice number and there you go
If we don't know, who will? hahaha

you could always go to the dmv and do a trace on the vin# to see who owned it prior to you,, then fill out paper work to find the person address. and put in the reason why you want to contact this person "im trying to find out the cars production number" and also right down your phone number to contact you. and this will be asked in the letter to the previous owner....and its up to that owner if they want to accept your request or not...
before you were able to everyones address without any notice. but since some actress died due to some psycho stalker a request is done first...

That's pretty much your only real chance. There have been rumors of persistant owners calling Acura HQ and Honda of America with some success, but it's rare. I did manage to find mine through high up friends of friends in Acura, but it was a one shot deal. I know how you feel, don't give up.

Thanks
, I will try both methods, and when i find that number I will go to home depot, get some white number decals and post that bitch up on my rear window. That way no one can steal my type R #. hahaha

Ha, that's the spirit. My previous owner had the car for 5 years and didn't even know anything about it.
Never even knew about the limited edition badging.

Honestly - If I was the previous owner and got a request like this, I would probably ask you to stop calling me, and take legal action if you did not.
All this work, just for a little number on the center console? It wont make you life complete if you know it. Just punch your favorite number into a fake R badge - no one really cares what number you have other than yourself.
(edit - as for the front spoiler, check with Victor 97typeR-312 as he lives in the fort belvoir area and has a good stockpile of JDM parts at most times)

Your only getting a letter in the mail, and its your choice to pick up the phone and make a 5 min phone call and tell the guy. It'll be shorter to say Its ITR # xxx than stop calling me or I'll get a restraining order.

you give off the impression that you're very paranoid. Id be more than happy to help out, if he were to ask for my social security # then thats a different story.
ya it might just be a measly production# to you but if you are an enthusiast like most of us on honda-tech are then it serves a unique number for these limited production cars.

no one calls you at anytime... the postoffice sends you a "notice of intent to contact" and all the person who wants to get in touch with you is on this requests , full name, physical address, and phone number. and a small summary of why this person wants to make contact. thats it... then you either call the person or refuse to do anything... you can also send back the request with a yes answer then the postoffice sends that person your personally mailing information..

What I think they did was have a # of Cars they would make for whatever year(Say 2000) and then they had a Special Honda Edition Magic 8 Ball that they would shake up at every ITR and whatever # between 1-2000 would show up is what your car would be, and if they got a # they used already they'd just try again.

Paranoid? Hell, i'm probably the only person at honda-tech thats never cared about my car getting stolen.
I just dont think that getting a number on your armrest is worth the time and effort that you are going to put into it - and the previous owner is probably going to think the same wat, especially if the car was stolen once before.
In all honesty, you could pick just about any number, as there seems to be no real method used to place the badges on the cars. No one will know 5 years down the road that your number was wrong.
Besides - what if you put all this time and effort into getting the number only to have the armrest stolen again?
