Which amp and wiring for 2 Alpine 10"s
Hey
I've got 2 Alpine 10" R-Type 2+2Ohm subs and I would like some advice on which Alpine V12 amp would meet the 300WRMS (per sub, 600WRMS in total)requirement (with different wirings). Is it possible to wire the 2 subs so the amp 'sees' only 2Ohms?
As far as I can see even the 1000WRMS amp does not have the power to run 2 of these subs at the rated input, unless the amp can only 'see' 2Ohms, but then again I'm not all that up-to-date on wiring techniques and what the actual load on the amp will be.
Also is there any way to ensure that the amp gets 14.4V?
MRD-M1000: Mono Digital
1000WRMS @ 2Ohms/14.4V
500WRMS @ 4Ohms/14.4V
700WRMS @ 2Ohms/12V
350WRMS @ 4Ohms/12V
MRD-M500: Mono Digital
500WRMS @ 2Ohms/14.4V
250WRMS @ 4Ohms/14.4V
400WRMS @ 2Ohms/12V
200WRMS @ 4Ohms/12V
Thanx for any help!

You want to stick with Alpine amps??? Ever think about JL Audio...you could get the JL 500/1 or, if you got the cash, the 1000/1. Both are GREAT amps and the 500/1 will push those type-r's with ease. I never really heard anything very good about alpine amps, they are decent but not even close to the quality and performance of JL Audio.
And about you amp seeing 14.4V...near impossible. Even with the a 200 amp alternator and all electrical upgraded I dont think you'd get up past 13.5V consistantly.

I did want to stay with Alpine...but if theyre nothing special, well... I'll look into how expensive JL is here in Aus.
So a bigger alternator is the only way to keep Voltage up?

That and new battery (yellow top optima), upgrade all power and grounds from alt. to battery, starter and etc., give your amp its own battery or big cap. Its near impossible keep the voltage up near 14. Even with all this I bet your amp will only see 13V-13.5V which is still a lot. If you would get JL all their amps are rated at 12V so at a higher voltage they will be more
JL Audio is the best mobile audio manufacturer by a longshot, you will not be dissapointed!

With any power or ground wire its best to have them as short as possible. The longer the wires the farther and weaker the signal gets. Keep your ground under 3 ft. and you'll be good
