rear suspension removal?
hey guys,
my helms manual says that in order to remove the rear struts, i need to separate the upper ball joints. i don't want to do that because i think it might be a pain in the *** and i also don't have the tool for it. is there any other easier way to do this (like removing the lower arm)? i wanna know before i start takin **** apart. how do u guys do it? thanx a lot.

I thought the rears were going to be HARD! It turned out that all I needed to do was hit the control arm three times with a regular hammer and it poped right out.
It was amazing how easy it was to remove the shocks. The biggest problem I had was having all the suspension pieces moved from my OEM shocks to the aftermarket. Almost two weeks later, I am still having issues with it. The ****** shop messed it up.

I understand it's possible to remove the rear strut assembly by disconnecting the rear sway bar instead of the upper ball joint. But I haven't tried it - I've always just popped the ball joint. It's not hard, and the tool is cheap.

You aren't actually popping out the ball joint. It is just the threaded piece on the ball joint. Basically, it is just the mounting point where the ball joint connects to the control arm.
I was owndering the same thing when I was pulling my suspension off. I was wondering how I would pop off the ball joint and then get it back in.
Trust me, it is not the way it sounds. The ball part of the joint is not affected. It is the threaded piece that attaches to the control arm that pops out.
I hope this makes sense.

Wo wo wo you dont need to take anything off. If your talking about a 4th gen non 4ws nothing needs to come off. I have dont 2 ludes and took nothing off just have someone push on the wheel hub while you push the shock up to compress it and then pull it out. man that sounds like way too much work what you guys are doing.
