I just got new pads/rotors. Do I need to change the brake fluid as well during the install or could I just keep the same oem stuff? Thank you.

 

yes make sure to get DOT4 or up, nothing less

 

You don't have to change the fluid. If it has more than 50K miles on it, it would be a good idea though.

 

I changed mine recently... no need to change fluid, just make sure that you pump the brake pedal after you release the calliper clips to ensure that the fluid gets all the way into the system.

If anything, you will have a higher level of fluid in your resevoir due to the thicker NEW pads replacing your old worn THIN pads

But as Slow said... replace over 50k miles...

Exactly.

DOT 5 sucks ***** for cars because it requires much more bleeding and more frequent bleeding.

Also you don't even have to disconnect the brake hosrs on the calipers to do front pads and rotors - no need to buy fluid.

 

DOT 5 is also silicone base opposed to the norm. glycol base
