Why do my subs sound better in other parts of my car then others?
well i have 8" kickers in a tube enclosure. i usually have them seated on the compartments behind my seats in the del sol, but when i pulled out my passenger seat and set the subs on floor of the passenger side i got much nicer sounding bass. then i put back in my seat today and put the subs back behind my seats and it doesn't sound as good. any reasons why? i don't really know much about subs at all.
Car interiors create too many variables to give you an answer. What you are doing, is the same way everyone else determines how to place their drivers.
sound waves, reversion, etc etc
i remeber we were doing in physics class, but that was way back in highschool
if you can get all the variables on paper ( distance, material, postion, sound level and so forth) you can figure out where to position your speakers so that YOU, in the drivers seat, get a much cleaner sound.
did u try listening to the sound from the passanger seat? is it better?

Ya I used to have my audiobahn 12's right up behind the seats because my box was big and I needed the space at the back (was still very littel space my box is huge) then I pulled the box all the way to to back of the car so it was touching the very back panel and I screwed it there to stop it from rattling and holy **** what a difference.
defientely call tell box placement helps.
Also when I inverted my subs I could tell a difference and the bling factor on these bahns went up 400%

I have a Kicker L7 in my lude and when I put down the passenger side window like half way and keep my window up the bass gets so much deeper...wonder why that is????
go find a physics student and feed him some data, figure out where your sub is gonna be and he will tell you where the sound waves will emerge, if they dont come up where your head is, move the speakers till they do....

That is bass cancellation, try changing the location of you sub and in which direction it faces.

I know that but the question is why is it louder when you have the sub in a certain spot facing a certain direction?

sound wave refractions
i was playing basket ball in my front driveway and i put my compter speaker on my window sill on the second floor, and blast it
if i stand right next to my house, i can barely hear it
but i can run 2 blocks away from the house and still make out the words!!!
it really is a science!

It has to do with how the peaks and valleys of the sound waves interact with one another. If peaks interact with valleys they cancell each other out, If it is peaks w/ peaks or valleys w/ valleys then they will amplify one another. Every car is different, so you just have to experiment.
