Opinions please?
Haven't done a setup like this before in such a small space so I'm curious to see what you pro's think. About to put 2 eclipse aluminum cone 10's behind my seats but can't decide whether to have them fire at the seat or fire down.
Opinions on which would be better for sq? I'm leaning towards downfiring, but can't really decide

Do whatever it takes to keep anything from interfering with the subs "bubble", [area in front of the sub] anything that keeps the cone from moving, [too much "loading up" because sub is firing into something, [back of seat] is not a good thing and will result in low output, poor SQ, [muffled sub bass response] and hotter running sub amp(s)

There will be nothing in the way of the sub's excursion if that's what you mean. Thankfully if I have the subs facing the seats there is enough room to still have full travel
You do not have to have anything physically stopping the cone from its full excursion, although I guess it's physical when the air in the "bubble" is compressed to the point that it does limit cone excursion.
I have seen this many times in trucks, sub is so close to back of seat that the cone can not properly move the air in front of it, many times the fix has been to mark the back of the seat where the sub sits up against if seat is all the way back, [sometimes it's already marked because the seat is up against the subs] remove seat back upholstery take it to a local upholstery shop we use and see cuts round holes and sews bead around hole for reinforcement, [takes her 10 min. while I wait and charges $10 for up to 3 holes, $20 if there is 4 holes or if it's 3 holes for a smaller PU, some extra reinforcing has to be done] we will then reinstall upholstery and remove any material that would still block the sub, [foam and the like]
This has worked very well, to the point that for whatever reason we have to build/use a box that has to have the subs facing forwards and is within 2-4 inches, [depending on sub] of the back of the seat we will go ahead and cut the holes out, [with customers permission].
