Squealing pulleys at start up
I get a loud squealing noise when i start up the car in the morning and i am thinking it is the pulleys. It goes away after i drive around a bit. The belts are all tight so i know i dont have to tighten them, and they are all stock. I am thinking that when i use Simple Green and water, it dissolves some of the grease or the lube for the pulleys... any suggestions? what kind of lubricant can i use to make it stop?
Upon start up is most likely your alternator belt... Just replace them or you will be like me; stranded using small hand tools to replace them.

they are all very tight... and only happen in the morning (mostly). It started yesturday when i cleaned my engine w/ simple green and water... u think that is what is causing it?
It only happened that once that you cleaned your motor and never happened again?
Aha that's a horse of a different color
More than likely the belt was so saturated from you washing your engine bay the noise was it sliping and sliding on one of the pulleys/tensioner. Same happens to my CRX when I try and make it float during deliveries in heavy rain
Just keep an eye on it and be sure there are no thread showing in the belt.

Alternator belt, just about guarantee it. If you rev real quick when it happens it should go away, or get some belt dressing for about 3 bucks at napa. It's the lubricant you're asking about. Tiny little spray on the belt and you're good for a couple days.
I know, because mine does the same thing, though it does seem to definitely have something to do with the temperature outside, and it doesn't do it when the engine is warm...
Next time it happens, once it stops squealing open/close your windows. If it starts back up again, then you've got confirmation.

I just replaced one of the pulleys because the bearings were shot and it was squealing like a pig.
I think it was the tensioner pulley for the AC? I'd have to go back and look it over to be sure.
