Sorry for the stupid question, but please enlighten me guys. Why did Honda call this awesome car that I drive a 'Prelude'? Is it a prelude to something? A great drive, good life, what? Let's hear what you guys have!

Why do car makers pick any of the stupid names they come up with? There really seems to be no logical explanation for most car names... someone in the office probably thought it sounded cool so they used it.

I remember reading it a while back Mr. Honda himself I don't know what his name was but he was the top guy of Honda at the time wanted to call it Prelude. It has something to do with it being an introduction to performance. Don't take my word for cause we all know a lot of people bullshit on the internet.

"a musical section or movement introcuding the theme or chief subject."

I dunno...

 

that may be true for most.. but i think the prelude fits its name. it introduced the 4 wheel steering and the ATTS.

 

Don't forget VTEC after the NSX!

 

keep in mind that the prelude started in 78 and was surely developped 4-5 years before that..

so this name come back from a long time..
not from the late 80's ..

at that time, honda didn't have a lot of sport cars..
i think that thes decided to make sport cars from the Prelude UP
and that's where it got its name from ..

it's always something stupidly simple neway ..eheh
