we welded on the return line. put a new oil pan gasket and put hondabond thinly on each side of the gasket before we installed the oil pan back on. did a sequence of tightening the bolts, making sure we didnt overtighten them. now, theres puddles of oil all over the place whenever i drive the car down the street to test out the turbo. any suggestions on fixing this problem before i drain the oil and re-do the oil pan? this sucks.

 

you will need to do it over again....just take your time. And i guess that in some gaskets there are washers in the rubber. When you take the gasket out, make sure you clean both surfaces really good and make sure that nothing is stuck anywhere.........

 

should i try to remove all the dried hondabond on the gasket and oil pan already?

 

if you're going to start all over clean off all the hondabond off both surfaces so they are nice and clean and will seal better when you put them back together later.

if you're sure the leak if from the pan, i'd try to first figure out if it's coming from the gasket or the return line fitting. try cleaning off the pan from all oil and dirt and spread some kind of powder (eg: athletes foot powder) around the gasket area and fitting. then go for a quick drive. wherever the powder isn't dry is where the leak must be coming from. then you can clean it all off and focus on the leaky spot more when you reassemble. also check the actual oil return line on both ends for leaks. good luck

the leak is from the oil pan. the thinner side where it connects near the tranny. oil is leaking onto the flywheel from that side of the oil pan.
